Possible glimpse of the ships of the future!

By BenStark, in X-Wing

Sure but that toy line is always terrible.

Oh baby A Wampa with twin linked rocket launchers, I want!

FFG will really glam them up, I kinda like both of them.

I like the design of the U-Wing more with it's wings closed rather than open. It certainly looks canonical, as a mashup between a Y-Wing with X-wing engines. Game-play wise, I'm not sure the rebel faction needs another multi-crew carrier. Maybe a replacement for the HWK? I am however, REALLY looking forward to the crew cards this might come with! Certainly a "Star Wars" meets "Dirty Dozen" feel!

The Tie Striker, is less impressive, but might fit a place. While I know tacking on a spring launcher is almost required on boy's toys.... Think about a TIE with a torp slot!

The quality of those Hasbro figures are just plummeting. I like all the new Rogue One ships, even the wierd shuttle. I hope the Striker is not an Atmosphere Tie only. We know the wings can "flap" and I wonder what reasons it has for the long body?

To me, it seems they are taking a slight trade off in detail to make them more durable. You know, so kids can ACTUALLY play with them, as opposed to 40 year old man-children "collecting" them.

Yeah I kinda wish the U-Wing didn't have those moving wings. Looks better with them in forward position.

I don't mind the TIE at all.

I disagree that the quality is "plummeting".

Last time I bought one of those figures when I was a kid in the 90ies, and they still looked better and had more articulation... But take a look at the in the stores, the almost look like bootlegs these days, sloppy paint job etc.

Do the Tie Striker wings sit parallel to the ground? Or are the like Astroboy's hair in that one win protrudes from higher on the fuselage than the other?`

Maybe it has some transport capabilities? It seems to be a recurring theme in R1, with the cargo AT-ATs and cargo hover tank :)

The Striker looks like a TIE Phantom that someone pulled a wing off.

Oooh, a cargo tie! Gets a huge ship cargo slot I bet

I figure nobody really ever had any doubt these ships would show up.....

Did they?

Is the U-Wing supposed to be a turreted ship? If not, then that could give it something that the Rebels don't have a lot of: a crew-heavy ship that only uses a firing arc. The only other ship they have in that category is the Ghost.

I'm still holding out hope that it has a Dual-card Title that allows you to set its configuration to either closed wings or open, with differing benefits for each.

Why do you think the rebels don't need another multi-crew carrier?

The rebel faction currently has two multi-crew carriers: the YT-1300 and the VCX-100.

In comparison, the Empire has: Lambda-class Shuttle, VT-49 Decimator (3 crew!), TIE Shuttle and the upcoming Upsilon-class Shuttle.

Scum, however, is really coming out on the short-end of the stick on this one, as their only multi-crew carrier is the YV-666, though at least that one holds three crew.

:P

I think it will be similiar to the TIE Shuttle, but with shields and probably less agi, support focused pilot abilities and a healthy ammount of new crew cards in the box.

It is possible that the Striker has a turret in addition the standard chin cannons, but I don't think we have aby official confirmation.

The slight angle on the wings on the Tie striker makes it look a tad odd imo. It sorta looks like the wings were ment to sit leveled but they succumbed to their own weight. Would it have come out better with a steeper angle and a higher placement of the holds on the body perhaps?

As far as the wings "flapping" on the tie I wonder if they just move up when landing like the shuttle

Definatly looks like windows on the back of the TIE, and like the top opens front and back.

I had a good look at the TIE Striker model on display at Celebration last month. I don't remember any windows at the back (looked very similar to a standard TIE at the back), but it did look like there was a hatch there.

Waiting eagerly to see a preview article on September 30th for both ships!

This kid looks like they scooped him up from the old 70s SW toy ads and gave him this year's toys to show off. And why did they choose to show off a white space ship in front at a white couch? They should have stolen a couch from the 70s too!

Or trading off detail and durability to make them more cheaply but sell them for the same price. It is Hasbro after all.
