Slow Down!

By jp82729, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Trying to make the most speed control-ish list possible. Has anyone tried something along these lines?

The plan would be to use the various setup and speed controls to manipulate enemy ships, and hit them with the ISD hammers. Between the 3 tractors, Konstantine and G-8 w/ title, this should be easy to accomplish. Bomber heavy lists would probably be trouble, but if the ISDs can run in and smash the carrier(s) quickly, it may stand a chance.

Interdictor-class Suppression Refit (90 points)
- Interdictor ( 3 points)
- Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams ( 6 points)
- G-8 Experimental Projector ( 8 points)
- G7-X Grav Well Projector ( 2 points)
= 109 total ship cost

Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points)
- Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams ( 6 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
= 120 total ship cost

My first Interdictor list with two VSDs had 2x Phylons, Konstantine, and G-8, and the Phylons were unnecessary. The only time that many are useful is if you are facing a swarm list. Against every other list, you'll wish you had something else for those points.

I would drop the Phylons and the Gozanti and add some fighter support.

as stated earlier the Phylons are unnecessary.

the Gozanti is waste of points if you are not using it for its designed reason (Fleet Support)

With so much slowing down technology I would go for Intel sweep as the blue mission. You can easily slow to a crawl his objective ship while you arrange for your 3 main ships to meet him at the 5th objective forcing an ugly slugging match or giving you 75 points.

The tractor beams are good on the ISD due to their large bases. But I would drop them from the 'dictor.

I routinely encounter fleets where just having Konstantine and the G-8 simply wasn't enough (I'm looking at you, Madine).

Konstantine + 2 tractor beams + G-8 just might be enough. Maybe.

Stupid Madine. :P

A Gozonti or 2 with Slicer Tools is the answer. Madine is worthless without nav commands.

Yeah. I had 2 Gozanti with Slicer Tools. But the last fleet I faced had Nav Officers (and Engine Techs) as well as Madine.

Sometimes you just hit the hard counter to your list.

Thanks for the input everyone. I've come up with a few variations on the list.

Option 1 (400pts)

  • Drop tractors on the Interdictor
  • Move Titus and Konstantine to the Interdictor
  • Add 4 TIEs

Pros: Some minimal fighter cover and 1 more deployment

Cons: One less activation, Konstantine might be an easier target than a hiding Gozanti

Option 2 (398pts)

  • Drop tractors on the Interdictor
  • Move Konstantine to the Interdictor
  • Add slicers to the Gozanti

Pros: Slicers! 4 activations
Cons: No fighter cover and 1 less deployment

Option 3 (399/400pts)

  • Do either Option 1 or Option 2 and switch to Motti

Pros: Alot of hull to chew through
Cons: Less speed control tech

I think option 3 leads you to a cascade of changes cause when you remove konstantine the whole speed shenanigans get a lot less threatening overall. So if speed is going to be the main aspect of the fleet, I think its 1 or 2.
