Quad turbolasers and home one

By Marauder1983, in Star Wars: Armada

Has anyone run this? What was the result. I am looking at the combo for a large ship based fleet

Two large ships with quads and home one on the third to activate them

I have made lists on paper, and while it looks ok, it always seems to eat up the points quick. Maybe a couple of Neb's might work. But the 10pts of quad I feel limit their use.

I think stacking Acc are better on ships with large attack pools, like Liberties. 2 large ships with HomeOne certainly sounds interesting. Counters small ships and the double brace ones hard. Also could be nice with Sato as a cheeky way to add an extra dice into that attack pool (formal rules for Sato pending of course).

Fleet should be called "Pray they don't have bombers"

You realise thats Marauders list.....

He did say he pulled it out of the fleet section

You realise thats Marauders list.....

Since I specifically stated I pulled it from the fleets section, yes.

Yep, that's my list. I am really interested to see these in action. I think stacking the accuracies will be key and combining it with leading shots once I am in medium range will give me a lot of flex before I can be affected by targeting scramblers.

Don't take this the wrong way HERO but I am not sure if this is a good or bad response. Usually you are more .... wordy in your responses. But I am an optimistic person so I am going to assume its good.

I think he's saying its money.

My bad man. The $$$ means that I view it as too costly for what the combo offers.

I have to agree. And recently having been on both ends of zero squad heavy hitting fleet vs lots of squad fleets I have to say most setups without some sort of squad game are extremely vulnerable these days.

I ran a crazy 2 x slicer tool flot, Devastator, Dictorbattery fleet that was just stupid (the 11 die front arc that vapourized a Liberty was fun) but my opponent had something like SIX Scurrgs. along with some pot-shots from his cap ships they made short work of my ISD and it was all downhill from there.

Same when running my TB list vs zero or low squad lists.

A bomber command or 2 and a bomber force you could semi-ignore to hunt down carriers is no longer ignorable. If you really want to run this I would suggest you strip the ships right down to the bare essentials of what you are trying to do and use the rest of the points on some CAP.

Just take the quads and the title and the admiral and this leaves you enough points for 3 Awings and a small bid, if you keep your awings back and comit them once enemy bombers are committed they can save you a round or 2 of punishment and will be worth their points (if 33 points can neuter 130 points for a few key rounds its a win). If your opponent has no squads Awings can still front-hump enemy large-base ships and give you .75 average damage each with no response.

What do the other 8 "$" mean? :P

I'm willing to wager that at the time of posting, I viewed it as more costly than I did a few minutes after. Either that, or my keyboard got stuck.

I know it should be in the builds forum, but my take on the 3x-pickle list used Rieekan and a low bid for first player. I can't see playing this list without either. The first activation during the first exchange has to DESTROY its target (likely) or the game is pretty much over.

I haven't played it yet, but I'll try it after I'm done playtesting for tourneys. This fleet is too risky to even test with the tourneys coming up soon.
