Hobo I'm kind of surprised you'd put anyone on ignore. You don't seem the type.

The idea of Ignore function is the cancer of the community forums. Childish desire to close your ears and imagine it's not there.

The Ignore button is just an aid for something people can do anyway: not read your posts. It's only anathema to people who can't cope with the thought that someone might not care at all about what they have to say.

I never use it myself because having posts I can't see bothers me much more than seeing irritating posts ever could but to take issue with its existence is tantamount to believing you have a right to not be ignored.

This thread just reminded me of the multiple people I should have #ignored long ago.

Some of them have been on mine... I no longer tolerate the haters here. After the huge stinks that came up about Waves 9 & 10: yeah, I never need to see some of these people ever again.

I used to think the ignore function was a way for small thinkers to keep themselves from being exposed to new thoughts. Now, I know it's there to stop me from having to see yet another dumb post from a known dumb poster. There is nothing to be gained from nonsensical, hyperbolic rhetoric. The three that occupy my list deserve their spot and I know I'm a lot happier not having to see their, ahem, let's be generous and say opinions. Now, just putting someone on ignore for one or two posts is kind of backwards. Several hundred posts on the other hand...

This is not an offensive picture... it is from a young adult show made by Mouse... yet you acted like it was the most offensive thing ever seen online.

Decided to finally ignore someone and I think it will make using this forum much more enjoyable.

Also in regards to forum moderators, for those who use tfn (theforce.net) forums know how extremely well moderated they are. Maybe a bit too much if anything.

They should just let some users volunteer to do it since ffg doesn't have the time. If they don't do their job or abuse it find others.

I personally don't block anyone, even people I tend to disagree with aren't wrong or infuriating all the time, and it's very easy not to hit a reply button. But then again, I've been in some very volatile discussions over the past two decades. From discussing minutiae with very knowledgeable and opinionated Tolkien 'scholars' to being dragged in a Rumble is Red, Frenzy is Blue war in alt.fan.transformers. And do not ask me about Balrogs' wings. .

I had one person on ignore for about two weeks. I then decided that I'd rather just see their posts just in case they have something worthwhile to say, but if they want to be a jerk fine. that's their problem I don't have to reply. I might disagree with some people here but we all love Star Wars and X wing isn't that right?

There are quite a few vocal people on this board that spout the same thing on every post, have upwards of 2-10k posts, but even they aren't worth special attention like adding them to ignore. Just because they say the same thing over and over, they might eventually toss something decent out. Kinda like monkeys on typewriters. It'd very easy to pick up on their writing style, so I usually just do a quick scan and if it adds nothing I move on.

As much as people might like to believe their time is valuable, it isn't.

The main thing many of us do is keep each other amused and in like-minded company.

I like several people here and I know they like me too. It is cool here most of the time in my view.
