Am i overlooking it? Dont see an option when i look through their profile either, just an add friend button.
No way to block content from users?
The ignore list.
Edit: It's under your own profile, go to edit my profile, and one of the options under my settings will be ignore list.
Edited by FourDogsInaHorseSuitClick on your name at the top of the page, and then go to "Manage Ignore Prefs"
You have to manually enter in names, and sadly it only hides posts (not threads).
Manage Ignore Prefs
Thanks guys
The idea of Ignore function is the cancer of the community forums. Childish desire to close your ears and imagine it's not there.

Alternatively, it's a convenient way of quickly scrolling past those annoying bellwhackers who never add anything to the conversation.
I have one person on my ignore list. It's saved me valuable seconds in scrolling. I cherish them.

If you wanted to be on my ignore list so bad, you could have just asked.

It's more like poison. Used aggressively, it kills. Used selectively and with great care, it makes life better. Think chemo.

I think it's fairly required on community forms.
There are people you will simply never agree with, and why bother reading something you know is wrong? Or some people are simply trolls and should be ignored.
Or some people just have nothing of value to add.
It's not childish to ignore people who in your opinion add nothing to the community, in fact often avoiding them is the best thing you can do for the community.
Conversely, is there a way to find out what ignore lists you're on, or at least how many?
....... i'm asking for a friend.

I'll try to explain it, but realizing that I'm probably on your ignore list it's a little pointless, but here goes.
Because though you and I don't agree on several things about this game we both love Star Wars so we have that in common. Even though I don't really like your take on the meta I've learned over the years that you are about my age (I think you're a couple years older) and you used to play and enjoy West End Games version of Star Wars.
I find that interesting and if I wanted to ask a group in the off topic forums to start up a Roll20 of either WEG Star Wars or FFG's version inspired by WEG, you'd be on the short list of people I would ask.
And since you couldn't see me ask you, you'd miss out. I've been called some pretty bad things on these forums and I still don't ignore or report those people. Every now and then they make me stop and go "hmmm.." and reconsider some things. If you surround yourself with people you agree with on everything its hard to achieve growth as a person. I'm sure you could find a real life example of people who do that, and view the entire world through a narrative and its not healthy.
It's for reasons like those I'd never block you, and I have a working mouse wheel so anything I find troublesome zips right by. But as I've said before to each his own, whatever works for you.
I wonder if it's possible for people to find out if they've been put on an ignored list.

Really? there are several users who do not actually contribute anything, if all your doing is talking about breakfast or posting little spaceship pictures instead of actually discussing anything then i do not want to see it any more.
Hey. Joe Boss is cool.

This.
Way. Too. Many. People on the internet exist purely to troll and begrudge others. One could say ignoring is childish rather than debating your point, but theres a difference between a debate and a troll. A troll will just say whatever he/she can to piss you off and not care at all about the argument.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That's why you have moderators; to keep the community civil and alive. Users segregating themselves into smaller and smaller niches with only like-minded people is very detrimental to the long-term viability of any community.
In my experience of course. I'm watching the slow collapse of a huge forum in the Netherlands which is due, in part, to that exact thing. Where before there were many large meetups, numerous relationships started (I met my wife there ten years ago for instance), now it is mostly sniping and trolling and dwindling numbers of posts due to people talking only to a select few in their own small circle.
Moderators? you mean those guys that you almost never see on any forum until something gets to the personal level of insults and threats?
I have always laughed at the idea of forum moderators. Ive never, ever seen one actually do their job before things get really bad unless they were brand new and all hyped on the "new job" mentality...for a week

Well yeah, he's posting little spaceship pictures, but the name of the game is X-Wing Miniatures. Seems somewhat appropriate to me.

That huge forum I frequent ( http://forum.fok.nl ) has very active moderation with over a 100 moderators for the forum alone, helped by a group of visibly active site-admins (there's also a news-site with about as many crew and a bunch of other subsites). The best moderators are able to stop a fight in its tracks simply by showing up in a thread and saying hi, without editing or deleting anything.
But as the years pass they are getting harder to find.

As a man with multiple warning points (that seem to be unperishable, yeah, right, and no guidelines to that anywhere)
I can definitely say they do. If anyone gets offended over a pony gif and smacks REPORT button, it's an astral mark that attracts Mods.
They just work silently and post-factum. Not jumping threads banhammer blazing, deleting posts and slamming huge "IT BREAKS THE RULE #3.11" banners around.
Nope. Posts and people just disappear.
Edited by WarpmanThis thread just reminded me of the multiple people I should have #ignored long ago.
Is it possible to ignore trigger words too? Like "gunboat"?

I'm sure Grimmy just put you on ignore. No worries, I'll quote your apology if you want to write on up so he can see it

If I told you why I put him on ignore I bet that opinion would change.
