Oicunn, Ion Projector and the Emperor.

By Archangelspiv, in X-Wing

Hi Everyone,

Say an enemy ship has put down their dial, and it cause them to bump Oicunn, I roll my dice, modify it with the emperor so now they are ionized. Next turn I do a 1 straight, cant move forward so bump them again and they take a damage. Now this is the part I am most interested in, They do their 1 forward and overlap Oicunn again. At what stage do they remove the Ion token? And at what stage do I roll for Ion projector again? Can I keep them eternally Ionized? Emperor willing of course. Or do they get a second Ion token then remove all tokens at the end of their turn?

Cheers in advance

Arch.

They remove the Ion token when they do their 1 forward. However, this won't clear Oicun and they will bump again triggering the Ion Projector. You can keep doing that all day until they're dead.

Yeah, this combo totally works. Throw on expert handling as well to make setting up the block easier

Minor point, I'm pretty sure this is subject to initiative. Ion Projector triggers after the enemy ship executes the maneuver that bumps. Ion token rules say to remove them after executing a maneuver. So I think whoever had initiative would trigger first, meaning if oicunn had initiative, he'd assign the ion token first, then if the opponent's ship was already ioned and did the 1s from it to get the bump again, he would remove all tokens after oicunn assigned it. If the non-oicunn player has iniative, they'd remove their token then oicunn would assign a new one.

Cheers Guys, I thought that that might be the case Vander, need to make the list 97 or so points to make sure I get initiative and get them to go first.

Big O is so much fun. Som much blocking, so much damage...

My record for damage due to pilot ability is 15. It was the daredevil combo. Stupid fun.

I don't get it. Ion Projector works on the enemy movement, not yours. So when Oicunn move, he don't put any Ion token on the enemy ship. Is the enemy ship that needs to bump against Oicunn. Isn't it?

They bump him, they get ioned. Then next turn, he bumps them, does damage. They bump him, get ioned. Etc.

Yes you are correct. But what we are saying here is that The ioned ship has to go 1 forward which auto bumps into oicunn, which you can use the emperor to make sure the Ion projectors go off. Then you choose a 1 straight and cant clear the enemy ship in front of you so you do your Oicunn ability and do 1 damage to the overlapped ship. If you make them have initiative the only way to stop the Ion train is to kill oicunn.

Ye I got it,my mistake

Nested triggers are dumb, bring on the stack!
