New Dark Heresy Designer Diary: Congratulations to Silence of the Void

By FFG Ross Watson, in Dark Heresy

Just downed and read the adventure yesterday. The victory is well deserved indeed.

Just read this, and like it very much. A few questions, though:

The players are met by a servo-skull that seems to me rather chatty. Just what are the communication capabilities of these cyber/servitor creatures anyway?

If the party chooses the confrontational path, the last Big Baddies attack the party separately, alone. While they do have some impressive stats, my experience is that my party of munchkins deal with any one threat very fast, with extreme prejudice.

Castus the deadly Assassin and Havelas the overpowered Biomancer deal some impressive damage, while Uthak the indestructible Guardsman can survive a direct hit by an RPG without suffering more than scratches. With Uthak engaging the foe in melee, backed by the Arbitrator... I envisage this fight to be very short. And then a few Seal Wounds later and it's rinse, lather and repeat.

The only thing that seems to really give them trouble is if I swarm them with large numbers of foes, to spread their damage output and outnumber them all in individual melee assaults. However, this really bogs things down in lots of dicerolling, and can take hours to resolve.

Any other experiences with this? Any thoughts on how the fight against the unstable psycher will go for a "regular party"? Tips on how to beef this encounter up a few notches?
