Palp adds extra crits to maarek unless things look dicey and anything with a lot of hull has a very bad day......

Originally had maarek in his defender with x7 but for the extra's you can stack on with the spare points in the advanced as well as the garanteed crit it was a no brainer...

You'll have to position very well vs dengaroo or missle boats but should be a rather painful list.
