Is it easier to play Imperial?

By The Rebel Fleet, in Star Wars: Armada

I personally think it is. Maybe not "easy", but definitely more straight forward with more powerful combos.

I will go with more powerful base cards. Sure as Demolisher and Rhymer but not more powerful Combos.

Right now there are many devastating combinations that Rebels have that Imperials have some issues with combating. It will be hard for an Imperial list to be an All Comers list because they have many "Silver Bullet" type of ships/titles. The rebels have a vase terms array of defensive capabilities and extremely strong offensive capabilities that is synergistic with the rest of the fleet.

Sure, more powerful base "cards". Combos might have been the wrong word, since combos by nature are more complex and thus, not easier to play or understand. So by that nature, I think Imperials are "easier" to get into.

From my experience the base tactics of the Imperial fleet is easier to understand then the base tactics for the Rebel fleet. However, once you start digging into upgrades and fleet combos the complexity of both fleets goes up just with different focuses that different people find easier for one over the other. The perception that the empire is easier is one ship type is good at all the different roles

Some very interesting insights!

For the Imperial players, when you play blue on blue or against another imperial player how does your strategy change?

Now you have to watch out for the giant front arcs of death also! I'm guessing activation is the key?

The Dark Side is easier, faster. More powerful it is not.

Mikael? Is that you? No, you can't be Mikael, he would never admit that the Imperials were weaker or not the best.

Correction: Easier and faster is more powerful, as the Empire should be.

Also, GrandMoffMatt forgot to mention 'more seductive'.

I find his lack of faith disturbing.

I have plenty of faith..... Man...my throat is really constricting today...

My impression up to now is that the empire is more difficult. The rebels have always had strong broadside ships which are also fast, enabling them to "circle strafe" with ease. Most of the imperial ships turn slowly and cannot keep the enemy in the front arc. Granted, a good player will use obstacles to block them or lead ahead far enough to intercept them, but if You were to take 2 average players relatively new to the game, my money would be on the rebel player most of the time. fighters are multi role, which makes the rebel fighter game easier. Imp fighters tend to be more specialized. More than anything else though, the manuverability of the rebels makes them easier in my eyes.

Take a few AF2s, add in ackbar, and proceed to dominate your opponent.

With the advent of tractor beam and the interdictor, I think the field has leveled somewhat, but if 2 players who don't know the game well were to plop some vicotories or ISDs on one side and AF2s and CR90s on the other, I still think rebels will take it most of the time.

I think the rebels have it easier. Just avoid those front arcs and you basically got nothing to fear. Its a lot easier to toilet bowl at long range than it is to rush into close range while trying to keep the enemy DIRECTLY in front of you

this. exactly.
