Custom Specializations

By emsquared, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hey all,

So I went and created a homebrew Specialization. Take a gander and let me know what you think (is it balanced? tree connections ok? does it fill a need/empty niche?), won't you? There's more coming down the pipes but this is the only one I've completed so far.

Career: Universal
Specialization: Force Sensitive Physical Adept

And because I love the community so much, here's a link to the Custom Specialization Template I created, for your enjoyment (and free use). [EDIT: If you open it in Google Sheets apparently it loses all it's formatting (some cell shading for the template, and bolding, italicizing, underlining and coloring for the dice/symbol glossary), but hopefully if you just download it, it will retain it.]

Come back with your own custom specs if you'd like, and we could just turn this into one big 'ol repository for custom specializations. I'll link them in the OP here (with proper credit of course).

Cheers!

Possibly you haven't shared the file properly, or do you want people to request permission?

I couldn't access the forums yesterday (got some "request blocked" message), so I was afraid I might have been banned due to the file, so I had stopped sharing it. I guess it was something else though, as ... well, here I am.

I have re-shred the file.

Ok, honestly it's a bit over powered. A cheaper Dedication directly linked to a Force Rating is uncommon and makes for an easy pickup. Quick Movement, 3(!) ranks of second wind AND balance, plus a bunch of other stuff. It's a very very very appealing tree, it needs some setback removing talents and perhaps 1 more Grit to lessen the appeal. But it's an interesting idea though, I do like its premise.

Thanks for the feedback Rb.

Dedication is not as cheap as some, the shortest path to it in this tree is 80 XP, there are those out there that it's 75. Plus putting growth in the Force only possible through growth of the Self is thematic with the Physical Adept concept. I can see about shifting Talents around though to make them both 25, but having to go through Dedication to get to Force is going to stay.

Recruit and Peackeeper both have three ranks of Second Wind. And RE: Balance, strain is obviously a theme of the Spec.

I don't disagree that it's very appealing - in combination with other Careers - but alone it's not that great, and to get all of its appeal would be a huge XP investment. I will look at options to tone it down, maybe with another Conditioned and maybe a couple other things. But glad to hear you like the concept in general.

You could also look at the Gunslinger for inspiration on a way of making a longer path to the end goal.

My main concern with Second Wind was increasing the TOTAL number of ranks of it in the game. I would bury at least 1 rank deep in the tree so the total cheap ranks are limited.

I do like that there are no Skills with the spec, although I may have stuck with Insight rather than Well Rounded. Well Rounded is extremely enticing, especially at 5xp.
