Okay so I have an imperial veterans pack and a Tie Defender pack. What else besides the core set should I get?
What to buy next
Looks like you like the Empire so....
TFA Core, Imperial Aces, Inquisitor's TIE
Just get all of it. Immediately, or sooner.

I started out in a similar pattern. I have to recommend the Tie advanced prototype. If you can proxy cards that is.
I have been looking at the decimator

Give in. You know you'll feel better.
And get a TAP for escort.
Assuming you are an imperial player:
Tie Interceptor expansion- if you rely on those green dice, and sure love doing all kinds of tricks, then this is for you. The Tie Interceptor is known for moving REALLY fast, and stacking up with actions (with the use of the Push The Limit upgrade card). Also, Sootnir Fel can be your best friend if you use him correctly. The Tie Interceptor is a nice ship, and is really fun to fly. But, to be able to master its true potential, you must practice with it again and again. If you really enjoy this ship, then you could get Imperial aces to help increase the Tie Interceptor's power
Tie Bomber expansion-Alpha strike go! The Tie Bomber is an alternative to the Tie fighters. It is a hulking ordnance carrier that can fire weapons unimaginable. Or, as an alternative, you could use the Tie Shuttle upgrade you got from Imperial Veterans to have multiple ship support ships.
Tie Fighter expansion- the Tie Fighter: a cheap, disposable ship that, in high amounts, can be very lethal. If a swarm is your thing, then you could fly up to 8 of these babies in a squad to unleash true power. The best part is that when facing a two-build list, each of your enemy ships can only attack once. So what if they one-shot two Ties off the board (which wouldn't be common, considering they roll 3 green dice)? You've got six left! The only disadvantage of this ship is the firepower. Yes, it only rolls two attack dice. That's not a lot. But, in the Tie Fighter expansion, you get a pilot called "HowlRunner", who lets all friendly ships at range reroll one attack dice. So if you keep her close to other friendly Ties, they can get a chance to increase their firepower!
Well, I hope this helps in your decision!
EDIT: The Decimator is a powerful PWT (primary weapon turret), but be careful, it dies quickly. It is very pricey, so you won't be able to fit more than one ace in a list with it.
Edited by bconsand it's been calling to you, right?I have been looking at the decimator

TIE/fo blister gives you a great ship and some really good cards to use on it, you can make a very competitive build just out of that one blister.
TIE Advanced Prototype is good too, and either a TIE Interceptor or Imperial Aces. I do love TIE Bombers, but you need cards from various places to really kit them out well so I'd put them a little later. Gotta have a TIE Fighter too. Never underestimate the power of an Academy Pilot on blocking duty.
Imperial Aces or an A-wing for Push the Limit?
You already poses all you need.
It boils down to this question.
Do I have 2 of everything yet?
If No, then I need to buy more until I do.
If Yes, then I need to buy more until I have 4 of everthing.
I hate to be that person but there are so many videos on youtube and other post on here with a little research why even ask this question? My answer is always buy what looks fun
Imperial Aces or an A-wing for Push the Limit?

Ignore this.
And... Welcome, welcome! There is some good advice here. I like the Decimator as well.
The three that are must-haves, reintegrating my brethren:
....and two of everything else haha!
Grab the Tie/FO pack. Omega Leader and a pair of Defenders is pretty fun!
My current list is Omega Leader, TB Vessery, and a heavily-loaded Bomber. You force the opponent chose between the two heavies, hammer them hard, and try to keep OL around for the end game.

Not everyone has tons of bandwith (both speed and monthly GB) to waste with youtube. Besides there is lots of crap and waste-of-lifetime videos there as well.
I know you probably want someone to say "buy the X,Y and Z" (hmmm those random letters don't work for SW .. Anyway, you get the point.) but the truth is, buy what you like!
I love the Original Trilogy (OT) and have no appreciation for the Rebels TV show or a lot of the Expanded Universe (EU). I'll never buy a TAP, a Ghost or the pretty new TIE.
A swarm of TIES, the Falcon, some A/B/X/Y Wings, Interceptor Aces or Boba Fett's ship .. That's what I love .. That's what I buy.
The game is about fun .. buy the stuff you like, roll some dice and have fun. You'll meet some great sirs and ma'ams and you'll learn what ships, upgrades and pilots you'll want on your own journey.
The exception to this rule is if you are ultra competetive and want to defeat Paul Heaver next year .. In that case, ignore everything I said.

But hey, if he likes saying "ignore this, I gave you the answer", let him have his moment of perceived superiority
