I'll be working with a local store that is hosting its first X-Wing tournamanet today and I just realized that I never checked to confirm if the Wave 9 ships are officially permitted in X-wing tournament play.
I assume they are OK since FFG sold them to the public at GenCon, but I want to make sure the store follows the rules.

Officially, they are not tournament legal until there has been a wide release, which may not happen until sometime in September. Unofficially, if it's not a high-tier tournament like a Store Championship or Regional, the TO can allow it if he wants to.
I highly recommend ruling that Wave 9 is not allowed yet, to prevent grumbling from players who have not been able to get ahold of it yet.

"For Relaxed and Formal events, all product is legal in North America upon the product's official release. For Premier events, all product is legal in North America 11 days—typically the second Monday—after the product's official release. Official dates will be updated on the Product Legality page on our website ( https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/op/legality/ ). Players outside North America should check with their organizer to determine which products are tournament legal"
Wave 9 has not been released yet (GenCon was a pre-release).
As cool as the new ships are I would not allow them in tournaments, even just local, until the official release as it could create a "the haves and have-nots" situation
