Greedo: Slow on the Draw w Parting Shot

By warfinger, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I'm not sure how to interpret Greedo's "Slow on the Draw" ability and how it interacts with his "Parting Shot" ability.

Slow on the Draw: "When you declare an attack, the target may interrupt to perform an attack targeting you."

Parting Shot: "When you have suffered [Damage] equal to your Health, before you are defeated, you may interrupt to perform an attack. Then, you are defeated."

My question is, if Greedo makes an attack, then dies as a result of Slow on the Draw, does he get two attacks before he dies or just one? I thought it was just one, but in a recent Team Covenant review of Greedo they make it seem like he gets two attacks before he dies. I suppose you could interpret it either way, and that it depends upon timing during a turn. If I declare an attack action, but die as a result of an interrupt, do I still get to finish the attack action? If so, then Greedo gets two attacks. Otherwise he would only get one.

Thanks.

Can you link the Team Covenant Review? I'll take a look at it. I think I agree with you, but I need to go look up the exact wording around "interrupt" and I would like to see what those guys are saying.

Rules Reference Guide: when a figure is defeated during its activation, its activation immediately ends.

Greedo gets to use his parting shot attack before he is defeated, but he is then defeated immediately after, and his activation ends.

I watched and I hear the line, something like "I shoot you, you can go ahead and shoot me back, but if you do and you kill me I also get to shoot you again." That does make it sound like they're saying he can attack twice. Probably just a little slip up in language, because I'm pretty sure Zack knows that's not the way it'd work.

A better way of saying it would have been "I shoot you, you get to shoot me, and if you kill me I'll still get to shoot you right before I die." Parting shot just guarantees that Greedo will get an attack off if he declares an attack (and dies due to slow on the draw) or if he gets attacked and killed some other way (because slow on the draw won't affect his declared parting shot attack because figures can't suffer more damage than it takes to be defeated. i.e. if you attack my already defeated parting shot character with slow on the draw it doesn't keep me from attacking with the parting shot still.)

Agreed with masterchiefspiff. Greedo only gets the one parting shot attack and it seems mostly like a awkward way to phrase the comment by TC.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Yup. The original attack is aborted because the figure was removed from the map. Greedo is defeated immediately after performing the attack from Parting Shot.

Also, related to this, I heard that Slow on the Draw has been ruled during GenCon as Limit once per activation, which breaks any infinite double-Greedo loops in a clean way.
