Liberty + Nebs - The Inch Forwarders

By EUBanana, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Playing around with the Liberty and the double turbolaser possibilities, not so sure if two Nebs are acceptable in the age of ISD-2s, they are awfully fragile.

MC80 Battle Cruiser 103
- Mon Karren 8
- XX9 Turbolasers 5
- XI7 Turbolasers 8
- Gunnery Team 7
Nebulon-B Support Refit 51
- Salvation 8
- Intel Officer 7
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits 7
Nebulon-B Escort Frigate 57
- Jan Dodonna 20
- Yavaris 5
GR75 Medium Transports 18
- Bomber Command Center 8

- Leia Organa 3
X-Wing Luke Skywalker 20
X-Wing Wedge Antilles 19

I would drop XI7s as Mon Karren takes care of it. Use the points to upgrade the HWK to Jan.

I like the list, but I do agree with Madcat. You don't need the Xi-7's, so upgrading to Jan is an excellent idea.

I would also consider dropping Luke for Dutch as he combines wonderfully with Wedge and Yavaris.

I might also move the Intel Officer to Mon Karren as Intel'ing defense tokens with Mon Karren is just plain mean :-)

Hmm you guys really think with the XI7s? I figured the purpose of those was to have a reasonable chance of getting a Dodonna'd crit in there early - together with Mon Karren it'd make avoiding that quite hard except for the most heavily shielded ships.

If you move the Intel Officer to Mon Karren, then you could keep the Xi-7's as it effectively negates 2 defense tokens.

You Intel Officer Brace so if it's used, it's gone, if your opponent chooses to use redirect instead, to save the Brace, then Xi-7's negate it.

If you go that route, I would certainly drop Wedge and add Dutch, saving 3 points. Xi-7's are 6 points, not 8, so there is 2 more points and then with your 2 points remaining from your 400 you have the points to upgrade the HWK to Jan.

Hmm actually thinking about it... you could swap Mon Karren for Intel Officer, so it looks like

MC80 Battle Cruiser

- Intel Officer

- XX9 Turbolasers

- XI7 Turbolasers

- Gunnery Team

You intel officer the brace token, XX9 invalidates contain, XI7 reduces redirect, so that's pretty effective at ignoring tokens. You don't really need Mon Karren so much.

The only wrinkle is you can only Intel Officer once per turn so the gunnery team becomes slightly less favourable.

What you propose is a viable option, but as you say, does weaken your Gunnery Team shot, but not by much.

I wouldn't put my commander on Yavaris. Its a high priority ship with low survivability.

I personally love Xi7's on Mon Karren. It gives your opponents a hard choice which I always approve of.

If you want more focused damage, take all three MK, X17, Intel Officer. Don't expect to kill fresh ships outright.

I would add Flight commander and fighter co-ordination teams to yavaris this 6 points to is the ultimate yavaris pimp. you can hid yavaris well back activate him shoot his red dice, move into medium range of your fighter, move them one and the activate them....... It doubles your double tap threat range......

If you also change salvation up to an escort and put a fighter co-ordination team on him you can move your fighters one then one again to get then in double tap range.....Luke can become as death with this build, especially if you go up against a three activation list and they give you first player....... Four rerolling Luke dice anyone......

A small ship maybe but medium and large, no.

Thanks guys! lots of really good ideas, can't fit them all into 400 points though... at least, not in a Liberty/Neb/Neb/GR75 + some squadrons lineup.

I'm going for this in the end I think, will report back tomorrow.

No Jan Ors, unfortunately. Don't really have the points; it's either Jan Ors or the pimped Yavaris. Not a huge fan of her given the presence of X-Wings with escort, and all those X-Wings have brace tokens anyway so her special ability and counter isn't going to be hugely useful IMO. I really want Intel and that's all pretty much.
In the end I figure gunnery team > intel officer for the Mon Karren though it's a bit close, and I still like the XI7's on it. I think gunnery team can get some use at shooting up starfighters as well so that edged it for me a bit - even if Mon Karren only has black starfighter dice.
Fighter coordination team, flight commander + Yavaris could be pretty beastly even without Luke in there, so I went for that!
Slaved turrets for Salvation, I only got one XI7 card and I'm playing at a tournament, or I'd probably go for XI7's again. 399 points is hardly a bid but I imagine a lot of people go for 400 on the nail so you never know.
Could maybe lose a Y-Wing and upgrade the others to B-Wings but I generally prefer the Y-Wing speed 3.
