I ordered some Shapeways corvettes/small squadrons

I ordered some small A-wing pegs that hopefully will be more to scale.

I also ordered Hammerhead Corvettes 1/7000th scale that I will mount as flotillas and use as stand ins for CR-90 ships.

I am really excited to get these ships. The scale of Armada really bothers me. Hopefully these ships will be high quality and paintable. If so I will order more. I paid the extra for Frosted Extreme detail.

I will post pics painted and unpainted so people can see the level of detail and size comparisons. I am particularly interested in the A-wings. I think the squadron stands with 9 fighters each will make the game look more epic.

Has anyone worked with the small squadrons?

I thought about getting some small 1:2256 scale Tie Fighters to mount underneath my Gozanti flotillas.

Can you post some comparison pics of FFG A-Wings v 1:2256 scale A-Wings when yours arrive.

I'll post all kinds of comparison pics for people. I haven't been able to find any pics of the squadrons on the net. As awesome as Mel's and j_roncho's work is I wish there were more pics on line of the actual ships, especially next to FFG ships.

I may have to try a few. Might help make for an even more epic look with the fighter craft.

I view the ships more as the admiral looking down on a tactical read out display and watching the battle unfold. So the scale doesn't bug me as much.

As do I. Normally, minor things bug me far for than they should (like the new kyber crystal lore being that the color is a reflection of the user's soul... Yuck and ARRRGH at the same time), but the scale of Armada hasn't so much as scratched a nerve when viewed as an overview of the battle rather than a miniature reenactment.

There was actually someone way back during Wave 1 who painted everything to look hologram projections. It was pretty sweet. I'll try to find it soon.

So I got the ships. Several days early, that was a nice surprise. Boy are they small. I will post some pics when I have time to paint more of them. I am very impressed by the detail on the small fighters.
Hammerheads are the size of FFG fighters. The fighters are the size of the tale section on the FFG A wings. I painted up 1 squadron of fighters. Very tricky.

My initial impression is that while these ships are nice models and the makers should be commended. I don't think it will be worth it to buy all new models and paint them for my whole fleet.

Even if I did, it would look weird when fighting against an opponent who is using FFG models. then the scale would really be screwed up.
