Dec 3rd Regional and more - Wixom, MI

By Cervidal, in X-Wing Organized Play

Howdy all -

We're hosting regionals for Michigan once again at Flat Land Games.

Full event details can be found here - http://flatlandgamestore.com/news/x-wing-regional-sign-up-now-available/

Edit - changed the URL above, took out some of the past event information.

Fridays are still the weekly play day on which to sharpen your skills.

I hope to see all of you soon!

Great News! See you then. Is there a link for the rest of the Regionals dates and locations?

We'll start taking registration for this event on November 1st. Much like our April regional, we should have a food truck on hand, and easy capacity to sit triple digits.

I'll post updated store site and Facebook links as we get into November.

I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of X-Wing players, both returning and new!

What are the regular "XWing" days at Flatlands? I heard Fridays, but are those only for special events?

Friday is the regular day. They typically run something besides just a standard 100pt deathmatch, but it's always fun. Leading up to the last regional, they were running escalating tourneys (60pts 30min, 75pts, 40min, 100pts 60 min, 125pts 75min or something like that), more and more time restricted. This was in an effort to ensure everyone was prepared and relaxed in a 75min 100pt environment.

We try to run something non-standard when we bust out kits on Fridays; we're actually waiting on another batch of X-Wing kits to arrive before we start advertising game nights again.

In the meanwhile, we've still had a fairly steady crew coming out on Friday nights, and they've been fantastic for having fun with players both new and veteran.

Registration for this event begins November 1st.

We'll see y'all soon!

Does anyone know how quickly this fills up? I'll be out of town with limited Internet until the 9th of November.

3 PM to 11 PM Monday through Friday, noon to 11 on the weekends.

Last time 91 people showed up and I think they easily have room for 150 or more.

Edit: Fixed the time. :-)

I think you're the fellow who just called, and I found the error on our site as a result. Totally my fault, updated the site. I forgot we had our hours on a couple different spots.

We are open 3 PM to 11 PM Monday through Friday, noon to 11 on the weekends.

My apologies for the confusion.

We've had seven calls so far about early sign up today - calls forward to my phone when we're not open. I love the enthusiasm! I simply can't sign people up until I'm at the shop.

NorseJedi has it right - it would be completely unexpected if we somehow sold out; we can fit 150+ comfortably, 200 if we jam them in. Early registration helps, though, as it lets me get a better idea on total table rental and how much food to have the food cart vendors should bring.

im so excited :)

If possible, try not to call right at 3 - we've taken a dozen pre-reg calls forwarded to my cell phone so far, and I suspect we may have quite the deluge to answer when 3 hits and staff is in the building.

Can I call now to pre register ? :D

17 sign ups on day 1, very nice!

The same food cart as last time has been confirmed for 11 AM to 9 PM.

25 total sign ups so far.

If you're planning on coming out, pre-registration will go a long way toward making sure we nab the right number of tables and chairs, along with making sure EJ's has enough food on hand without having to leave to get more.

With 30 sign ups in the first week, we're actually ahead of preregistration from the one earlier this year.

If you're likely to come, I strongly encourage letting us know - it looks like I may need to set up more tables than we did before - I thought the December weather would dampen attendance, doesn't seem to be the case!

We have had a couple incoming Canadian entrants express difficulty giving us a call - it seems like our carrier doesn't always like incoming international calls.

E-mail us at [email protected] and we'll give you an alternate number to call; I'd prefer to not have my cell phone all over the internet.

We had some worried calls about our site being down - we're still flying and thriving, just some technical glitches. If you don't see our site, you can still contact us at 248.773.7854 or at [email protected]

Based on the number of early sign ups we've had, we are officially limiting this to a single day event. Dice will be rolling at 9 AM, and we expect the final cut may go as late as midnight, especially if the top 8/16 roll defensive dice like they did for the last regional.

We'll see you all soon!

For all those coming out -

If anyone has extra game mats that the store can use for the day, that will help us enormously to make the overall game day experience work.

Please note - if you bring a mat for general use, label it in some way as yours; it will speed up the day considerably if we can put the mats down as static locations so as to keep the rounds moving.

Thank you to everyone!

If you or anyone else you know has not yet pre-registered, please do so soon. Based on early sign ups, I'm going to cap this event at 130 so I don't pay for too many extra chairs and tables.

As of yesterday, we had 50 pre-paid sign ups, and we usually get a little more than double our early sign ups for large events like this.

We also let EJ's know the likely attendance so they can prepare the right amount of food, so early sign ups are helpful to both us and them!

We're up to 64 - I'm really grateful for all the early sign ups giving us a better number.

If you're likely to bring some mats we can use, shout it out here. I'm trying to get a feel for how many boards I may have to crank out Thursday/Friday night.

I can contribute at least one mat, potentially two depending on how strict the rules are for "official" mats. The one in question is one of the GaleForce nine game mats.

If it's 3x3, it's good enough for me.

The GF9's are 35.75 x 35.75. I've never seen any tourney say no to them. Assuming they're okay, I can contribute 3 mats. Assuming they're not, I can only contribute one.
