So I want to pitch another PbP, a little different from the previous. Please read the following, as it's very important:
The hook is this forgone conclusion: the players will defect from the Empire, and take their ship along with them.
All the other details (how? why? who with? when? where?) will be worked out in the storytelling.
Sound good? Still reading? Wait for the next bit.
The other catch is that each player plays one of the six careers from Age of Rebellion. So we'll have an Ace, a Commander, a Diplomat, an Engineer, a Soldier, and a Spy.
If you're still here, read some of the other details:
So an AoR career-only game with all six careers being used. We'll also start at Knight level. Of course, starting as Imperials, species options is an issue (as, in this version of the Empire, they're fairly humanocentric); use fair judgment in this case when choosing. Gear chosen will be what you can afford, but also take into the account of considerable resources the Empire provides, which can be accessed for a time.
If you've made it this far, here are some ideas for characters:
Now, these are only ideas,
Aces:
- Drivers may be a part of the Imperial Vehicle Corps, or a Scout trooper trained to use speeders.
- Gunner may be a member of the Imperial Gunnery Corps, a copilot/gunner on a shuttlecraft.
- Pilot is obvious.
- Beast Rider may be a specialty Stormtrooper or Scout trooper, i.e. sandtroopers on dewbacks.
- Hotshot is obvious as well.
- Rigger may serve as an engineer, or the pilot of an Imperial shuttle or assault craft.
Commanders:
- Commodore may be the captain, executive officer, or other high ranking member of the ship.
- Squadron Leader may be in charge of the starfighter complement, or the leader of ground forces (may be a member of the Vehicle Corps).
- Figurehead could be in the same boat as the Commodore.
- Instructor is odd, but it could be the security chief, executive officer, or similar.
- Strategist may fill the same roles as the Commodore.
Diplomats:
- Ambassador and Advocate may be filling some form of political or legal role.
- Advocate, Agitator, Analyst, and Propagandist may be an Intelligence or DeStab agent.
- Analyst may be working as a ship navigator, computers technician, or electronic warfare specialist.
- Quartermaster can fill a rather obvious role as ship quartermaster.
Engineers:
- Mechanic could be the ship's chief engineer, assigned as chief engineer to the attached starfighters. May also be Vehicle Corps.
- Saboteur may be Intelligence.
- Scientist may be ship medic (ethically questionable mad
sciencemedicine is not forbidden), or some kind of analyst.
Soldiers:
- Pretty much all the specs can fall into any of the various Imperial Navy or Army Troopers, Stormtroopers and specialty groups, or Scout troopers.
- Sharpshooter may also be Intelligence or an Imperial assassin.
- Medic may serve as field medic, but may also be the ship's medical officer.
Spies:
- Infiltrators and Slicers may be Imperial Intelligence.
- Scouts may be Scout troopers or other specialty Stormtrooper crops.
- Slicers may be similar to the Analyst, as computer technician or electronic warfare specialists.
Positions closed.
- Kael playing an Engineer.
- Richardbuxton playing a Commander/Commodore.
- TheTeaMustFlow playing a Soldier/Trailblazer.
- Rakaydos playing a Diplomat.
- Herf Nerder playing an Ace/Hotshot.
- Sarone as the Spy.
