What’s your best build for Countess Ryad

By devotedknight, in X-Wing

I’m finding that Countess Ryad is one of the most Unpredictable and one of the most maneuverable pilots in the game. By using the PTL (3) and the EU (4), she has many maneuvering options. She should fly at either 3, 4, or 5 straight, (giving her a free evade). She than can decide to K-turn or not. And by using the Barrel Roll / Boost combination, she can place herself almost anywhere, (lot of combinations), from the end of maneuver template.

39 = Ryad (34) + PTL (3) + EU (4) + TIE/7 (-2)

So what is your best Countess Ryad build?

Ryad with Opportunist, x/7 and TIE mk 2

Her low PS makes it so she is usually firing after higher PS pilots have used up their tokens. I like to pair her with pilots that shoot before her or with Carnor Jax to further help strip tokens. K-turning into range 1 behind someone and slamming them with a five dice attack makes for a brutal way to end the combat phase.

Engine upgrade is not recommended on a PS5 ship which already has a barrel roll. Push the limit is sufficient for her. I am also not a big fan of Juke on a PS5 ship. Push the limit and the TIE engines are my suggestion

She's a good candidate for Rage as long as she has the mk ii mod. That gives her something like 12 or 14 greens and she can still get the evade, right?

I tried her only once, with PtL+x7+TIE Mk. II. She soloed Dengar in a Dengaroo squad. I couldn't believe it. I heard she was good, but I didn't expect her to be THAT good. And that TIE Mk. II came in handy for keeping my arc on him while clearing stress when a straight maneuver just wouldn't cut it.

OK, so I was running her with Carnor Jax and a Palp shuttle, so she had powerful squad mates. They focused on Manaroo, so she still dealt with Dengar all on her lonesome.

I like Carnor Jax with some cheap ties to get in people's way

If she is will have Palpatine support, then x7, PTL and stealth device.

If not mkII

Push the Limit, x7, TIE Mk II. So so good.

Push The Limit, TIE x7, Tie Engines MK II

lone wolf, stealth device, x7 title

she is insanely hard to take down and has unmatched dogfighting skills

Mk2 engines are perfectly good, but Engine Upgrade is pretty nuts. You can do some really off the wall stuff with Engine Upgrade and the flexible K-turn, even if you are at lower PS.

Predator x7. Cheap and good and not vulnerable to bumps

I run her with x7 and Juke alongside Carnor and a Palp shuttle.

Lone wolf and x7 is a hard 34 points to beat

I'm a big fan of the engine upgrade, but compared to just Lone wolf + x7, it's not great value

It's strange, but I really like her with Outmaneuver. It's really not hard to use a K-turn to get out of an enemy arc and deal some damage.

This, with RAC (Vader, Gunner, VI, EU, ...) works great... Try it!

i love her plain flat with just x7 and a pair of glaives w/x7 and juke. that's it. :)

My Ryad is probably like a lot of the others.

Ryad - PTL + /x7 + TIE MK II

36 points, so still relatively cheap. While she is awesome, she is still only PS 5, dont want to stack too many points on her.

On a side note - If you type My Ryad, spell checker thinks you have made a mistake trying to spell Myryad. Skynet is still a ways off.

I also can't see past Ryad with PTL, MkII and x7.

Engine does allow you to do some weird things but at PS5 I don't think the extra 3 points over the MkII engines is worth it. The MkII also add 6 extra greens which is so useful when you're probably using PTL every round.

Similarly, I don't think a non-PTL build is all that good. Ryad's PS and pilot ability seem to be custom-built for PTL and, other than possibly Outmanoeuvre, I think any other EPT would go better on a Glaive than on her.
