Overreacting by posting a joke thread to ban abbreviations? If IG88E couldn't understand the list, why post a response at all? Why not simply ignore it? He didn't even request any additional info or offer any insight, which would make his seemingly polite response something worth actually typing. Perhaps I would have responded better?

You know I had actually typed out a list of the abbreviations used and then I got to the end and thought "**** it, if someone can't be bothered to put together that I'm simply using the first letter of each word on the upgrade card, then they must not be that interested anyway".

I'm kind of a little sick of all the sh*tty attitudes on this forum anyways, and that more than IG88Es response is what bothered me. Call it a culmination of sorts. I post a list to share with people and discuss and decide to write out the list instead of linking it and the only response for an entire day is to complain. That is more telling about the attitude of this forum as a whole than anything else. But hey, it's not all bad. If we're being frank though, I didn't understand either. I almost always have to stop and think about the abbreviations that people use in their shorthand typing on these forums. And while that is annoying to have to do, it is infinitely better (to me anyway) than the internet shorthand people use these days.

Settle down, buddy. None of this is that big a deal. Listen; if the entire forum disagrees with you on this subject, maybe it's not because the entire forum is all composed of humorless jerks who are out to bring you down with their sh*tty attitudes. Consider the possibility that everyone disagrees with you because you're in the wrong on this matter.

That said; it's not a big deal and we could easily move forward if you'd post a tacit acknowledgement as simple as "Alright, point taken. My bad.". The only reason people are piling on is because you're weirdly digging your heels in. When I was pretty new to these forums, I was over in the squad building sub-forum and posted a rude statement about a list that I thought was especially boneheaded. I was snarky, and not tactful about it. Someone else on that forum told me to take me negative attitude elsewhere because I was being a tool and nobody was interested in that. You know what? At first I was pissed and could have easily started another thread asking why people couldn't deal with criticism, but instead I realized that they were probably right, so I wrote a private message apologizing for my snark. It was over and done and immediately and since then I've gotten along with everyone here pretty well.

I don't want to see you shamed out of here or given excessive amounts of verbal abuse, because that's no fun for anybody, but at the same time, take a moment for introspection. There is consensus that your abbreviations were a little hard to decipher, but that's not an attack on you, it was just a comment intended to help you do what this forum is designed for, promote discussion of X-Wing. It's hard to discuss things if we can't understand each other. I know you thought that the abbreviations were fine, but be that as it may, it's not really a good enough reason to become offended or argumentative at IG88E just because he disagreed with you.

Anyway....I don't know, I'm rambling now. Sometimes people are jerks, and that's on them, but when EVERYONE else seems to be being a jerk to you for no reason , ...stop and think about it for a minute and try to figure out if that's really what's happening. I don't think this topic warranted a four page thread or as many bad vibes as are going around, and I hope we can all put it behind us soon.
