Nashtah Pup with Attackn shuttle rules?

By IG88E, in X-Wing

Would the Nashtah Pup see more use when coupled with a title that gives the slaver a small advance. And then it can be deployed like the shuttle?

6 points are a good price for a Z95. But it only can be deployed when the slaver is down. Furthermore there are so good and cheap upgrade you can get for 6 points, so the pup is mostly messing up with your points.

Any ideas to make it (more) viable? Because Nashtah Pup rocks!

At the very least, I wish the Elite upgrade transferred with the pilot. Veteran Instincts and Adaptability do, but not the others. That's just strange. Thematically, the Elite upgrade represents some special skill the pilot has, so it's strange that it disappears when they book it in their escape ship. ... Though now that I think more about it, that only applies to Bossk since the others don't have Elite slots.

They haven't updated it yet in the FAQ, but it can win the game for you now:

Currently it states "If the only ship remaining in a match is the Nashtah Pup Pilot, the player who controls that ship wins. If this scenario arises during a tournament match, the Nashtah Pup Pilot is treated as though it is worth 1 point. For example, in a standard 100 point dogfight match, the player who controls the Nashtah Pup Pilot earns a modified win and has a margin of victory of 101 and his opponent scores 99. The Nashtah Pup Pilot cannot be equipped with any Upgrade card. If Bossk is equipped with Hound’s Tooth and either Veteran Instincts or Adaptability, the Nashtah Pup Pilot keeps that modified pilot skill."

Since there are no modified wins now, it's a true victory.

The problem with Pup lies elswhere: it is 6 points that does not contribute to making you ship punch harded/be more resilent but eases the loss when it goes down - giving points to your opponent, and taking your (usually key) ship out of the equasion.

I can think on only 1 scenario when i would like the Pup ( that is when you have you list somehow packed with every slot and still have 6 free points) or when you somehow plan your slaver to die anyway (and thats stupid thinking usually but hell DMS/FA and Pup is always an idea).

Thats nice one. But still it would need some kind of draw usually - Feedback Array?

As of right now, you're just paying 6pts for a 12pt Z-95 that won't come in until a stage in the game when it's way less relevant.

The Nashta Pup would have been more useful, or at least more interesting, if it'd been a place you could stash your points. Since the 6pt upgrade is counted as part of the total for the ship it is equipped to (like Bossk's YV-666, or whatever) it would make more sense to me if all 16HP counted for point scoring. You don't get half points until you've taken out 8HP on the YV-666, and you don't get the other half until the pup itself is dead.

Get on it, FFG.

Nice ideas

And the pilot skill should be transferred to the Pup. But I still think the Pup is not viable. 6 points is a lot to get a ship in this stage of game.

For example, if I have 6 points left I would take engine upgrade on the slaver (when the crew slots are occupied). Or gunner crew for 5 points. All of them participate in defense and offense of the slaver. The Pup doesn't.

I (unfortunately) would also not take him for 2 points. 2 points? -> Ion projector or anti pursuit laser or lots of good crew or ordnances.

The Pup should be either for free or should habe another mechanics.

Well, I have built a list with a party bus Bossk and Fenn Rau, both maxed out on their upgrades (because you don't really get another ship with the leftover points) and I have 6 points leftover. That is the only time I take Nashtah Pup. I mean, I could have a 6 points initiative bid, but come on, there are 2 PS 9s in the list :D .

Having a 6pt bid is better than having the Hounds Tooth and a 0pt bid, fo sho.

As with every other scenario, Hound's Tooth is still a sub-optimal choice.

It's not suboptimal in a bounty hunter furball with no points limit, and others already got dibs on Jumpmasters, Firesprays, and Agressors!

... and now I'm musing on what the most potent no-holds-barred build for Bossk would actually be . Dangit, I had things to do...

And also (in line with the fluff) if it could take at least one of the crew.

Could be a more viable value proposition if you could salvage the usability of the EPT and a crew.

Thing is the Attack Shuttle takes damage when the mothership is destroyed while the Natasha pup doesn't. To be fair you will want to keep the shuttle docked as long as possible until the Ghost is down to 4 or less hits. The main reason why people don't put in the Natasha Pup is because it doesn't add in any special benefits like an extra attack with the turret weapons that the Ghost/Phantom title does. Also the VCX-100 has 4 more hit points so it is a better mothership than the YV-666.

Now that we have errated cards: what about adapting Nashtah pub rules?

There have been errated cards for ages and they haven't changed the Pup significantly (they did change it so that PS-changing EPTs carry over) so there's no reason to think it's going to change any time soon.

I like the pup, it has helped in a few games when I have used it. Though the only pilot I would use it on is latts, as her ability can work when you can keep the pup out of arc.

But yeah I do with it stopped the opponent getting the full ship points until they blow the pupils up as well as the yv itself
