PS6 or less game

By CHEEKSx36, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I saw someone post a game type where you can only use PS6 or less pilots with no adaptability down from 7. Seemed interesting, and a great opportunity to change things up, maybe run some lists I wouldn't normally. Brought it up with the group and we'll be playing that this weekend. That being said, I usually fly some sort of imperial ace lists so these came to mind.

Royal Guard TIE Interceptor w/ PTLx4

or

Shadow Squadron Pilot TIE Phantom w/ FCS, Tactician, SPA x3

or

Royal Guard TIE Interceptor w/ PTL, AT

Echo TIE Phantom w/ Lonewolf, Intel Agent, ACD

Glaive Squadron Pilot TIE Defender w/ PTL, x7, TIE mkII

Obviously the first two definitely for the lulz, and the third seems pretty viable. Any recommendations or suggestions? What would you guys run?

Echo would own in this format, but I'd run her as a Buzz-Saw.

"Echo" (43 points)

- Adv. Cloaking Device

- Gunner

- Fire Control System

- Juke (???)

Wow - think about what you could do with a Phantom if it's EPT wasn't used for a PS bid..! I love Juke on Echo because you want to evade anyway, and now you don't have to worry about focusing your attack because you've got Gunner and FCS. This would dominate in a PS 6 ceiling.

Throw in a Coutness Ryad and a something else...

But, anyway, expect to see a stupid amount of JMK5000s in this format.

I like it, forgot about juke! It definitely is nice though putting a different EPT on the phantom. Ive actually never flown the countess, but this seems like a good opportunity.

Echo (43)

-Juke

-FCS

-Gunner

-ACD

Countess Ryad (32)

-x7

Lt Lorrir (23)

Puts me at 98, I know ideally itd be nice to have PTL and mkII on Ryad. But I also have been wanting to run Lorrir, again, flying things we normally wouldn't, and I feel like I cant turn down the barrel rollin/decloakin shenanigans him and echo will have.

Surprisingly out of our group of 6, theres only about 5 jm5k's and I have two of them. I was the main scum player til I switched over to aces. Think a lot of the guys are going to whip out their rebel ships, so im expecting a lot of A wings and lothal rebels.

So VI to get PS 8 is not allowed? If not, then an initiative bid would be pretty important, because you can bet more than one player will be taking PS 6 ships...

Oh yea, forgot to clarify that. PS6 is the max, you can modify the PS but nothing above 6.

Ryad would be a beast in this format, but I love the idea of Echo and Vessery attacking first. Adrenaline rush on Echo makes him even more unpredictable, able to kturn with no repercussions (outmaneuver another great one for Echo in this format). Vessery attacks and jukes, forcing tokens bye-bye, then Echo clobbers them with his 4/5die. Gamma cleans up. LRS helps him hit hard and gives Vess an instant lock round 1. A uboat is pretty much erased every round here.

“Echo” (40)
TIE Phantom (30), Recon Specialist (3), Fire-Control System (2), Adrenaline Rush (1), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Colonel Vessery (35)
TIE Defender (35), Juke (2), TIE/x7 (-2)

Gamma Squadron Veteran (25)
TIE Bomber (19), Crack Shot (1), Plasma Torpedoes (3), Extra Munitions (2), Long Range Scanners (0)

You can still take our man Jake Farrell with adapt down to PS6 and PtL. Zoom zoom.

Edit: I was trying to think about who'd be amazing in this format, and it occurred to me that the answer is a TON of ships who don't get regular play. Huge fan of this as a casual format.

Sabine gets better. Palob and Guri as aces are bananas. Backstabber gains even more value for the cost. Kenkirk is an dodger in addition to his late game green die. Red Ace gets to be at the PS cap. I love what this does for 4-L0M, who can now more reliably pop himself into R1 of enemy ships, since he's also at the PS ceiling (take that, enemy PtL users). Aggressors don't need to struggle against aces.

Seems super fun.

In fact... IG are probably the stupidest to build... They are still playable in normal standard, and in this format they would be sure to ark dodge everything ?!

I would do to glaives with juke and x/7 and a loaded up royal guard

That's an awesome list. And would look amazing in all red on the table.

Of course, lots of people are going to be thinking about Royal Guard Pilots since they're like a PS10 Soontir in this format (minus one focus token), so the man who brings Vader crew card or stress effects will truly be king!

That's why you get paid the bug bucks.

But for real.

I like Buzz-Saw Echo and Oiccun in this fantasy half-throttle mode. Vader+Gunner and the Rebel Captive? Lights out.

Imperials.

So many good options. For example, maybe you want a StressX that's effectively PS10, so if you fight any PtL ships, you can boost to correct your arc and they shoot at stress at them so the rest of your team can mop up? Or like, a Sabine that moves last? Sabine that moves last is halfway to the old Phantoms that broke the meta.

I know there's 4pts left, but I get the feeling you're gonna want a huge bid for this event.

X-Wing 1.5: PS 6 Mode

So many good suggestions, getting a little nervous on what to expect. Also, like mentioned, I feel like the initiative bid is going to be huge. Two x7 Glaives with juke and a Royal Guard Interceptor with PTL, AT, and mkII is 96 points. Should I drop one of the mods on the Royal Guard for more bid?

The games are going to be extremely high-powered - which seems counter-intuitive. But you're making the proverbial pond smaller, so the fish seem a lot bigger. It will be fun, but definitely broken in places.

I'm not sure everyone in the tournament will catch on to how important initiative is. A 4-point bid is probably enough. But hey, you could go all out and drop to 95 by lsing the MK-II mod. The Interceptors don't really need that anyway...

You could also just load up and take a full 100pt list, making sure to bring ships that don't care about initiative. Like things with Conner Nets or Academy TIEs who like to move first and let other ships bump them, or also, just Kenkirk or Oicunn. Oicunn moves first and rams junk, and Kenkirk can just slap Ysanne, Rebel Captive and Vader crew on there and wreck pretty much everything, since people are going to be bringing ships who either can't handle a PWT that can arc dodge them, can't handle the stress from the Rebel Captive, can't handle the Vader crew, or can't handle some combination of the above.

I'd probably wreck an x7 Defender with Predator, since it's totally self sufficient, and then load up a scary Decimator that'll be able to wreck all the Royal Guards out there. ...but then again, Decimator is my answer to pretty much everything.

Ryad + 2 glaives all crackshot could be highly effective but I'd go for aomething more fun like
