Bye and MoV

By Emerald Queen Isaelie, in X-Wing Organized Play

Hello folks,

What are the Prizes for 2016 Regional Championships?

Surviving countless dogfights is not an easy task. Doing well at an X-Wing Regional Championship is almost just as hard. Each X-Wing Regional Championship will award a variety of exciting prizes meant to reward successful players.

First Place: The winner of each Regional Championship receives a Regional Champion trophy to show off to family and friends, and one card granting the winner a first-round bye at a country’s National Championship .

We will be running a Premier Event soon and we wanted to know if these "reward bye" are supposed to be handled as a bye resulting in one competitor having no opponent for the round (that is a victory with a Margin of Victory of 150), or if these "reward bye" are supposed to award the highest MoV possible (that is 200).

Any official answer to this question ?

Regards,

Bye :
Occasionally, tournaments involve an odd number of competitors, resulting in one competitor having no opponent for the round and immediately being transferred to the following round. This is called“getting a bye.” When a player receives a bye, he or she receives a win with a Margin of Victory of 150.

We read the regulation Luke, and that was the point of my question : is the reward bye won in a regional the same value as the one you get by luck when there is an odd number of competitor.

I don't have a source, but I believe there used to be a 'super'-bye with 200 MoV when you used a bye you won at a lower tier event, but that went away sometime in the last couple seasons.

All byes now, regardless of circumstance, are 150 MoV.

A bye is a bye is a bye now. There is no difference between how you get it.

Shouldn't really have to worry about it now (unless you are going to Worlds and are a national Champion) as this upcoming regional season will not have any tournaments that will provide byes to it.
