Juke Timing?

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

Few questions about juke and timing. I know crack shot is not until after all dice are rolled and then you make the decision. But juke is after attacking

Juke States:

When attacking, if you have an evade token, you may change 1 of the defender's results into a result.

This happens right after you attack, before he modifies his dice correct? So he could still spend a focus and unjuke you. Just like the sensor jammer, correct?

We have a game tonight and I want to be sure how this works so I know how to defend against it.

Thanks,

That's exactly when it happens. It's basically the opposite of Sensor Jammer.

  • Attacker rolls

All dice mods go in order of whoever didnt throw the dice mods first, then whoever threw the dice mods last.

If he rolled all blanks, but was able to get an evade either through palp, evade token, or a reroll then you cannot juke because you have to modify his dice before he mods his own.

Juke is not a dice cancel, unlike crackshot, so its timing is standard.

Also this should be in the rules tab.

Cool. So if I spend the focus I nullify the Juke, but I lose the focus.

Thanks I searched for it, but the search function really sucks!

Right, thats the beauty of it. It cancels an evade OR soaks up a focus, except in those odd cases where they rolled more evades than you have hits.

More often than not i bring juke as a focus eater more than damage pusher. If they dont focus, cool free damage, if they do, mmmm focus....

Only other thing to bare in mind is that C3P0 adds the evade IMMEDIATELY when dice are rolled. That mans you can juke the free evade from C3P0. In my experience, people get really mad when you do this so make sure the extra damage is worth the earache!

This means as well that I can not juke evade tokens nor evades generated from focus, correct?

Juke is basically a punishment for not focusing and a punishment for trying to use focus aggressively.

Juke does not change focus tokens and happens before the focus token flips focus into evade so no.

So by this, the R3 Astromech would activate Juke, correct?

No, R3 is not even doing anything when you get attacked with juke. Literally nothing as R3 procs when you attack, not when you get attacked.

So wait ... You are the attacker.

You have R3 and Juke. You attack someone, you take an evade from one of the focus results of the roll. This in turn activates Juke (the evade token you just received during the attack dice modification), so now you can modify the defender's dice. Or am I out of order?

Yes, that is how that works. R3 gives you an evade, which you can then juke with.

Oh, you meant to use that token for juke. Yeah, sure. that should work. How is this even a question when you get your evade token on your roll and juke on the defender's roll? :)

Juke and sensor jammer sounds like a fun combo. It's a pity Vader really needs atc.

Yes, but not only; I think it is a really good token stripper (cheap Wes Janson:p) Juke is effective when focusing fire from multiple ships, even if they have low ATT. 2 or more A-wings with Juke firing at the same target is quite scary.

Juke before firing with an Opportunist works quite well too.

Yep,; works quite fine, but sadly, it is another droid for high PS pilots, who have already access to better stuff.

Anyway, I will play Juke Skywalker, if only wor the pun ^^

Correct. Focus and Evade tokens are spent after you have had the opportunity to use Juke.
