I'm curious - how many of Sabine's Ties should one get?

By jkokura, in X-Wing

I wonder why they don't have a X-Wing Fighter. Flying a Tie Fighter is suicidal.

There no X-wings in the Rebels yet. Also they fly this TIE in one episode only. Usually they (Hera, Sabine and Ahsoka) fly A-Wing prototypes.

Mhm ... so Rebels takes place in a time before Episode 4. I had the impression that A-Wings came far after X-Wings.

I don't want to unlearn what I have learned just because Mickey Mouse said so :P

You shouldn't get any don't give ffg the impression it's okay to water down faction identity like this.

I will be getting... 0. Worst expansion yet.

X-wing is an imperial project stolen by rebels (in future). A-wing is a rebel project. So Empire has it's own X-wing prototypes on Incom shipyards. Rebels have to fly on early A-wing prototypes, because they havn't better ships. In 3 season trailer there are numerous docked Y-wings. It seems that rebels will steal them.

Rebels have shown both A-wings and B-wings (or at least, prototype versions of them) to be in existence well before Yavin.

To be fair, this does not contradict anything we have seen on screen before. It only contradicts secondary material like the old RPGs. People's assumption that the As and Bs are newer than the Xs and Ys is based purely on the fact that we see them in ROTJ but not in ANH and ESB. Plenty of plausible in-Universe explanations could be used to explain this.

Isn't it kind by the empire to develop the rebels signature fighter craft, let the prototypes be stolen and then just drop the project?

But where are the Z's?

I will take only one

But where are the Z's?

Good question, they featured them in the Clone Wars so no obvious reason why the nascent Rebellion wouldn't have some. Maybe they just don't want younger viewers to confuse them with X-wings with the S-foils locked.

That's already been happening since about the end of wave 4. The introduction of bombs to rebels, turrets on the imperials, the entire scum faction, now this... Not say all the changes negative though, there's been quite a few very good upgrades and fixes since wave 4.

We just didn't buy scum, and we disallow bombs on rebel ships. For the most part, I haven't bought into any of the SW:Rebels ships.

Not a big deal, I'm able to assemble an impressive fleet using wave 1-4 and force awakens ships decked out with proxied upgrades from all the newer ships, AND I save a bunch of money. Plus FFG usually makes a veterans/aces pack every year or so that I pick up.

Unless the upgrade cards are great, or you really want more painted TIEs, two should do fine. Most players have at least two TIEs from the core set, so you can use all four inserts in a list then. Realistically, you'll probably only need one- more than that won't be necessary in a Rebel list and I doubt there will be a bunch of great upgrades for Imperial TIEs.

The Clone Wars audience was confused? You imply that the younger viewers both know about the S-foils and are unable to differentiate between X-Wings in non-combat mode and Headhunters and that the kids would care about such nuances?

I have bigger issues with mixing Empire and First Order. But obviously its just me.

I view that as kind of a reverse of what the Rebels did during the Galactic Civil war- taking old/obsolete ships and using them to bolster their newer models.

If you have no tie fighters and want to fly them all 4, if you have 2 tie fighters then you would only need 2 to fly any combination

You mean Imperial Ties? That only works if the dials are the same, which we don't know yet. I would assume so, but there may be differences, like Sloops or Tallon Rolls.

Jacob

Dial is the same. That's all a ship name is mechanically. Everything else can hypothetically be edited by pilot: even base size is defined by the pilot's baseplate.

If you want to make the case that FFG are watering down faction identity you'll have to define what Imperial and Rebel faction identity is.

Yeah. Like taking old/obsolete Vader and/or old/obsolete Emperors in our brand new Kylo Shuttle. So Kylo could ask Vader in person instead of pondering over the smoldered helmet.

I meant the ships mainly, as even in the main factions pilots who are dead interact with others... like Vader/Palp with any Defender/Phantom pilot, or Biggs with Corran Horn/Tycho.

There are alternatives to fighting.

My impression about the First Order from the film is that they would not use any old remaining empire vessels nor even remaining officers and staff.

Maybe add a system like in FoW:

Early (Episode 1-3)

Mid (Episode 4-6)

Late (Episode 7-9)

And limit the ships to their time of apparel. And dont forget about the EU ships ;) As you can see, this system would even include Clone Wars era ships.

how many of Sabine's Ties should one get?

how many of Sabine's Ties should one get?

Well, it's an abomination that spits in the face of God. So...none?

That's how I see all the Expanded Universe stuff.

At least TIE Fighters actually exist. E-Wings are just, like, made up ****.

I'm sure people said slavery would never be abolished, women would never get the vote etc, just because a things hard doesn't mean you shouldn't fight for it.

Even the rebels need to at least try to keep pace with the imperial technology. The E-Wing is a plausible yet experimental try. Its even more plausible then the new X-Wings

Well, we don't see anything but the cream of the crop in TFA- what with Kylo Ren, General Hux, and their uber super-weapon. Who knows what they are using in outlying systems or backwater areas.

For personnel however, they would probably still use older Imperials as trainers/higher officers- the First Order was founded by the remnants and survivors of the Galactic Empire.
