I'm curious - how many of Sabine's Ties should one get?

By jkokura, in X-Wing

Like the title says, I'm curious to see how many people think will be worth getting?

Obviously we don't have much to go on, and it seems to me from the images like there might just be 4 unique pilots, so it might seem like there's a max of 4 on the table for the Rebs, but is that squad even going to be flyable? Would it be wise to just get 1, or perhaps 2, to use as support for your main squad? Or is 4 going to be the default, simply because that would make sense?

I'm curious what other's think.

If you have no tie fighters and want to fly them all 4, if you have 2 tie fighters then you would only need 2 to fly any combination

If you have no tie fighters and want to fly them all 4, if you have 2 tie fighters then you would only need 2 to fly any combination

You mean Imperial Ties? That only works if the dials are the same, which we don't know yet. I would assume so, but there may be differences, like Sloops or Tallon Rolls.

Buy 7 and fly it as an OG IMP Swarm...

It's probably very safe to assume that it has a normal TIE Fighter dial. Imagine the burning piles of salt should the Rebel TIE have a better dial than a normal TIE Fighter.

7 for a full imperial swarm of awesomeness. :D

2 if you just care about the unique pilots.

If a TIE suddenly gains new maneuvers from bei.g stolen and getting a new paint job, I'd be very surprised.

The cards have a TIE-Fighter silhouette, as such it is in all regards a TIE-Fighter. Standard TIE Dial included. Which means still that you should get 7 for pure awesomeness of the irregular TIE-Swarm.

Well it gains a crew slot and an illicit slot, so I don't see why it couldn't. It's obviously supposed to be pretty heavily customised.

I mean, I don't think it *will*, but there's no particular reason it couldn't.

Like everything else I've bought so far, I'm only planning on getting 1. And I will fly it along with the Ghost and Phantom in the most fun Star Wars Rebels-themed list I can possibly make and it will be glorious

I havn't watched Rebels but it is my understanding that they have a single Tie Fighter.

So ONE is the correct answer.

I wonder why they don't have a X-Wing Fighter. Flying a Tie Fighter is suicidal.

2, so you can fly all of the pilots at once. (By using a couple of Imperial TIEs.)

There no X-wings in the Rebels yet. Also they fly this TIE in one episode only. Usually they (Hera, Sabine and Ahsoka) fly A-Wing prototypes.

None, don't encourage FFG.

1 will do nicely for me I think.

The only ships I have duplicates of are ones that come in multiple expansions (which is quite a few these days).

I thought there were no generics so four is the max Rebs can fly?

Thats right

Exactly, 4 is max Rebels can fly.

Additionally, based on upgrade cards is that you do not need more than 1 copy of this expansion (only condition card is not unique).

So 2 copies of expansion to be able to fly all 4 ties (assuming that you have old base set with ties).

I will want to see the pilot abilities/costs but I'm cautiously optimistic that playing all 4 will be competitive. Working on the assumption that they come in 14/15/16/17points that's 61 for the swarm, which is a nice amount to just add Poe on top and take it to the table.

Imperials can however replace how many TIEs they want with it. As per the rules only the base and pilot card must match faction, so if you are so inclined you can fly a crack swarm with 6 Sabine's TIE and Rebel dials.

Yep, but you can buy extra and fly them as Imperials ;D

Ooh! Shiny Crack Swarms incoming!

Haha. I only clicked on this post to see how long it would be before someone said that. I was surprised to find I had to scroll past the first post.
