When / how this card is really useful? It's rather a weak ally, for 3... I am sure there is a way to make it good, cannot find it though... In what kind of decks do you use this guy?
Master of Lore
He is rarely used after his errata. But I typically put him into monolore decks with enough draw to expect a couple of them to come out. He can pay for himself since many lore cards are expensive. You get 2 of them on the table, you're reducing cost by 2 every round. As long as there is no ally hate in the quest.
I disagree with the consensus and believe Master of Lore is a great card even after errata. He is basically resource acceleration in green. Then, of you don't need extra money he has a body attached. I have used him to great success. I think he is a card that looks bad when theorycrafting, but in actual game play turns out to be surpringly useful.
He is best used in a mono lore deck so you don't have to splash purple or run resourceful with secrecy. Treat him like you Steward of Gondor, except you can have 3 in play. The best deck I've had him in is a Damrod/Ambush trap recycle deck. MoL helps get the expensive Anborn online and with the extra money you can play you traps every turn and still have leftover income for rangers and stuff. I don't know how that deck works without Master of Lore.

Would be interesting to see that deck because I build a trap deck for myself and tested it yesterday. Outcome was ok... not really bad but not really good either.
I have a hard time building a mono lore deck that is not frustrating to play. When do you think it is totally playable? I just opened the Blood of Gondor AP, and I think, with Anborn, I will be able to create something that will work well. But I am not *that* sure.
Mono lore decks have a much better option for resource acceleration, and that's A Good Harvest + Steward of Gondor
I have not put a decklist together, but I will work on it. It was a 2 player team with a buddy of mine. One side did the trap deck with rangers. The other guy ran Gondor swarm with Boromir and visionary leadership, so the master of lore did get significant stat boost (I forgot about that part). Steward was already taken by the purple deck so traps ran master of lore and it turned out to be one of the best cards in the deck. We smashed a ton of quests with that team and had a lot of fun.

I've found that the Master of Lore is still good even post-errata, but it's really difficult to stomach that initial 3-resource investment a lot of the time. If your mono-Lore deck has a lot of resources to spare or you can get him in cheaper then one he's in play he's definitely useful. Unless the quest has any indiscriminate direct damage (especially 1 damage to each exhausted character since you'll most likely exhaust him in the planning phase).

That's what I Usally do... In *almost* every deck. Works O so well!

... I forgot to mention : my struggling is to create a un-frustrating mono lore deck for solo play
Steward+A Good Harvest generally doesn't work in multiplayer. And if I'm running mono-lore, I am definitely in multiplayer.
MoL's problem is that he costs 5 resources to equal the effect of Steward (3 for the first MoL and 2 for the second), and then you're only getting the same value as Steward if you're playing a 2+ cost card every turn.
I like him, he's just way more limited in his application than any other resource smoothing/discount/generation effect.
You need to use him three times just to make up for his own cost. You aren't actually at an advantage until turn 4, and if you can survive until turn 4 after blowing all your resources for him on the first turn, then I'd wager you're not playing a quest where he you even needed him at all.
I think I'd rather add in some Love of Tales and Songs (especially Kings) and then throw in stuff like Gaining Strength and Captain's wisdom.

I don't see a problem here... with mono-lore you are practically assured to draw it before anyone else!
The competitive meta-game!

The best thin about a mono solo Lore deck (a Mosolo deck?) is the abilty to scry and control the encounter deck.

Can we be honest about this here? The biggest issue is Seastan and Duke having the same icon.
Cage fight. Done.
It doesn't bother me if we have the same face. I find it flattering that Seastan chooses to mimic me.
One does not simply change their icon after 2-3 years.

DUEL TO THE PAIN
That's why Star Wars icons are the best in a Tolkien world.
