Whisper and Echo say see you in December!
2016-17 REGIONAL DATES AND LOCATIONS (X-WING)
I wish I had one only 1 1/2 hours away
Totally!
Hopefully you're not 1500km (900 miles) from your local (LOL) regionals, like I'm very likely to be (QLD, Australia has yet to be announced, but fully expecting it in the South East corner.
I wish these were not in the winter so that you wouldn't have to drive so far in the snow.
Does it seem weird to anyone else that we just finished regional season and are having it again in only a few months?
No. We've known this reset was coming for a while now.
Odd there isn't a PA event at all, especially since Mr. Nice Guys has Armada and Imperial Assault.
Who in their right mind decided on *Bozeman, MT* as a regional location? In the middle of January?
Do you people have ANY IDEA what the weather and travel situations are going to be like for that one? LOL....
Seriously, January is the worst time. All this potential travel in the middle of winter is no bueno.

I bet they end up with one of the Open Series events.
So did Roanoke get nuked for it's low turn out or the ID disaster?

That seems a bit of a stretch. Aren't the open series typically held at conventions?
Nothing in Pennsylvania?
All the PA players will be travelling up to ROC. In February.
I'm actually glad there isn't one in Kentucky this time around because the churn and burn of tournament season is sort of terrible.
Edited by enigmahfcLas Vegas regional will be nice since I am moving out there in about a month. Want to hit the San Diego and Arizona regional as well!
I wasn't too fond of this new time line for regionals when they announced it earlier in the year. And I'm still not too fond of it. But I'm glad they stayed away from Thanksgiving and Christmas time frames. From what I can tell, all of the regionals (in the US at least) happen on one of the following weekends:
Nov 12
Nov 19
Dec 3
Dec 10
Jan 7
Jan 14
Jan 21
Jan 28
Feb 4
Feb 11
Feb 18
Feb 25
So there's a noticeable lack of Regionals Nov 26th, Thanksgiving weekend, as well as Dec 17th, 25th, and 31st. I suppose the 17th is the only one that's really surprising, but I'm still glad to see they stayed away from it. That being said, It still sucks that you're going to have to preregister for these events (per usual), but then be at the mercy of the gods of Hoth as to whether or not you can actually attend, at least in the North. Oh well.
And on a personal note, the two that I will be capable of attending are on decent weekends, Dec 3rd and Jan 21st. Well away from any family obligations that the holidays typically entail (including the constant nagging of "you can't go away this weekend, the honey do list needs to be completed before my family comes to visit next week).
Once again San Diego gets a regional while Los Angeles doesn't. Because that makes sense
San Diego is better than LA. That's why.
If I made it to the Campaign for Cancer, I think I should be fine with this schedule.
So did Roanoke get nuked for it's low turn out or the ID disaster?
Well as far as the IDs went they followed the rules and precedent set by FFG at the time, so it would likely be the low turnout.

Team Covenant is the last day. And here I was looking forward to local scene ramping back up to competitive. : /
Are we skipping store championships this year?
Are we skipping store championships this year?
Yes, because for 2017, the Star Wars tournament season is effectively six months shorter. Store Championships leading to Worlds 2018 will begin next summer. For the non Star Wars Games, Store Championships should begin early spring for the eventual November Worlds.

Come for the X-wing, stay for the skiing!
And don't worry about the roads, that's why Bozeman has five hundred about plows!
More seriously, Bozeman is my local game store and I'm super excited to have the regional. We've got a great facility and should be able to handle a large tournament.
Wow... Worlds on the weekend of Nov. 5th and then San Diego, Milwaukee, Durham, Omaha, and Turro Nova Scotia all the next weekend!?!
That's gonna be a brutal turnaround.
Is one week enough time to tech against the Heaver machine and his latest fleet of net deckers?
(after he wins again, of course)
On topic... Bozeman in January is pretty brutal, but then again Colorado can be too. Time to start consulting the farmer's almanac!

Vegas will be sweet. Booking my tix now! 72 hours of no sleep and drunk flying in the tournament. The top 8 will be the eight that dont pass out.

That sucks. Playing in a few Store Champs this year in prep for the 2016 regional was a natural way to get ready for me.
I wasn't even aware of the short schedule. I saw the announcement and I was like "Wait, what?"
