Kanan and biggs

Most Kanan and Biggs builds I see include the phantom. But I not keen on seeing a ship explode to use the little guy inside! So how about...

The main reason for including a Phantom is because of the way the Ghost/Phantom combo works. As long as the Phantom remains docked, you get to use the Ghost's rear arc for the primaries and you can make a free bonus turret attack. These advantages are important on Kanan because he really wants to be Focussing every turn which means he needs to stay clear of the Red maneuvers.

Whereas other Ghost pilots can take Hera crew and merrily hurtle around the space-lanes piling up stress, Kanan likes to play it safe and steady and stick to the whites wherever possible. This in turn means you want to maximise your fire arcs (I like TLT on Kanan) and in turn you want a cheap docked Phantom to make the most of those expensive upgrades.

You have opted for plasma torpedoes to give you some firepower to the rear so that is less of a concern and using the Z95s as blockers may help to keep Kanan free to act. I have simply found when playing that building around Kanan tends to lead towards adding a docked Phantom for optimum synergy but other approaches may work.
