Help finding a list strong against swarms and u-boats

By IndyPendant, in X-Wing

This is for Hangar Bay at Worlds. The Rebel list I'm bringing is good against just about everything else; I'm just trying to figure out an Imperial or Scum list I would like, that could handle both U-boats and swarms.

Since I'm having so much trouble, I have decided to throw it out there and ask you for suggestions. : ) Pretend you knew you would face one of those two lists, and couldn't fly Rebels. What would you bring?

... What exactly IS good vs Uboats??

I'd probably guess Palp Aces, 3 Aces, or Dengaroo.

I know Dengaroo mostly laughs off swarm attacks. Though crackshot swarms are much more difficult. You can simply try and one shot a tie twice in the opening round, will avoiding fire from a few otheres.

Uboats just avoid or get into R1 of one, and try and only take 2 torps. Then slowly dengar them to death. Use Countermeasures on that alpha.

Palp aces or 3 aces just arc dodges the swarm and avoids getting blocked.

Palp aces vs Uboats, keep Palp away as long as possible, while arc dodging with the other two. You should lose Palp though.

Anyone else think this analysis is sound?

Anything that is PS 4 or higher and has post dial movement options should have no problems with the dreaded triple U. I've never understood the fuss over this list. It is very effective against swarm style lists or players that charge right at them, but other than that I've never found them that scary.

Fly a Crackswarm. Great against Dumpmasters and other swarms.

Triple x7 Defenders might have mileage. They are tough enough to deal with U-boats and swarms whilst still putting out enough firepower to whittle down both lists. I would probably try something like this:

28 Delta Squadron Pilot (30), /x7 Title (-2) (For blocking)

36 Ryad (30), /x7 Title (-2), PTL (3), Mk2 Engines (1)

36 Vessery (35), /D Title (0), Tractor Beam (1), Adaptability (0)

100 Total

With 2 actions and a free Evade, Ryad will usually be able to spare a TL for Vessery. In turn, he can use his tractor beam to lower the agility of targets for the other Defenders to shoot at which will help damage to stick.

Yeah, triple defenders is the ticket. Tough enough to survive torpedoes and crack shot alpha strikes. Even better if you can bring a mini-alpha strike of your own, which of course is possible:

Glaive w/ X-7 & crack shot = 33

A trio of these guys leaves you a 1 point bid to control asteroid placement or give you an edge against other PS 6 opponents.

And, other than me, no one else seems to be using it ;)

Here's another one that might have mileage:

37 Vessery (35), Tie/D (0), Tractor Beam (1), VI (1)

21 Omega Squadron Pilot (17), Crackshot (1), Comms Relay (3)

21 Omega Squadron Pilot (17), Crackshot (1), Comms Relay (3)

21 Omega Squadron Pilot (17), Crackshot (1), Comms Relay (3)

100 Total

Tie/FOs really are great little ships. They can charge up their Comm relays while closing in Round 1. From then on, they can take TLs for Vessery, BR out of arc or Focus to push damage through. Vessery can fire his TB to drop agility meaning all 3 Ties will have an easier time of getting damage through, especially with crack shot.

Hmm, pretty much what I had been thinking. Okay, thanks. I'll just probably go triple aces. : )

you're looking for PS > 4 ordnance to snipe ties and Jm5ks before they fire, provided your other list doesn't give a **** about palp aces
