Your favorite Signature Ability?

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

And so Absol said that she thought the Signature Abilities keep getting better and better. I was all - wait a second, what about Last Man Standing? That one is in the top 3 of my favorite abilities and that came in the second book.

And then I got thinking - here we are, Edge is almost about wrapped up with their career books, the Rebels are about half way done, and the Jedi - well, the path of the Force is a long and slow one. But - we've got a big enough sample now: what is your favorite Signature Ability?

You know, I've yet to get a chance to play long enough to purchase one. My players have only used Unmatched Fortune, and then only once.

I like the idea of last one standing and the bigger they are, but more than this I cannot say.

I have one......just can't say what yet though....

But you are an infuriating one at times.

Edit: simul-post with Whafrog. Ah yeah.

None of my players have purchased one, but...in all honestly I'm not really a fan of any of them. I'm all for player agency, but they go too far. I might change my tune after a player picks one up though.

I have one......just can't say what yet though....

You are one of my favorite pirates. Do you know that?

But you are an infuriating one at times.

Edit: simul-post with Whafrog. Ah yeah.

I even named it after a movie.....it's awesome.....

So far, I have the following as my list of favorites:

Fated Duel;

Insightful Revelation;

Last One Standing;

The Bigger They Are;

Unmatched Courage;

Unmatched Expertise;

Unmatched Fortune;

Unmatched Heroism.

Yes, it's a long list :) . I really can't decide which is my favorite, although Unmatched Courage is the one that I think is the most intensely thematic...

And, to echo our favorite Communist Spaceman, Mr. Pirate, you can be incredibly infuriating! But we love you :) !

What movie? Or who is in said movie?

I have never been more intrigued than I am right now.

This is the problem with giving us hints, Mr. Pirate! Now we want to know more than ever!

Actually, though, I have put forth the offer of my services for playtesting as well, so in the near future it's possible (unlikely, but possible) that I may have to shut my mouth in times I really don't want to, too...

No can do, trust me people will agree with the name.

I was going to ask if the movie was a Star Wars movie or not, because if the answer is "No," which is likely, then no actual information has been shared.

But then I realized if the answer was "Yes," then there's a lot of potential information there if someone obsessive enough and with data-analysis skills were to pour over the existing titles, so...yeah, I pre-emptively withdraw my question :) .

Of course, the odds of finding such a person on these boards is fairly minimal, but you can never be too careful...

Unmatched mobility, effectively doubling what you can do for free In a round. 3 maneuvers per round with +1 ranged and melee defense for a few rounds, there is a lot you can use here, combo it with a talent that allows you to do a particular action as a a maneuver can get fun.

Unmatched expertise is amazing and with a good spread of career skills can make you the defacto person for anything. Your pilot cops it and you need to get good fast, well its an option you may only have one rank in the skill , but you can flick a switch and all of a sudden hard cheks are easy and daunting are average. Marshals are great for this esp if you cross into anything that adds 4 new skills to you.

My fav though is fated duel , even though as a Guardian Warden I am more likely yo head for unmatched heroism

My favorite is the bounty hunter one.

Which Bounty Hunter one, Sight Unseen or Unmatched Absence? :P

Now you're teasing me! :(

My favorite is unmatched heroism it really lets a Jedi Guardian protect the entire party and give everyone else time to shine and do what they do best in combat unhindered.

Now you're teasing me! :(

Maybe a little ;) . But only because misery loves company - my favorite career will likely be dead last, so I've got to pick on the other waiters while I can! Soon I'm going to be alone, huddling in the night rain in a pitiful group with the other Mystic fans...

If anything happens to my current PC I may create a Mystic as my next one. I really like the Makashi Duelist for a lightsaber combat guy with good social skills. And we have nobody in our crew with social skills unless you count our protocol droid NPC.

So far, I like moat of them. Only the Ace sig abs have left me cold.

I like the hired gun, colonists, and smuggler are my favorite in that order... last one standing takes the top spot

Unmatched Survivability when the PC is a Beast Rider, keeping that mount going even though it should have passed out.

Oh good lord, now I can't stop building this out in my head. Picture, if you will: Cerean Colonist Doctor. You have Stim Application to supplement your expertise with Characteristic boosting and Pressure Point and Anatomy Lessons to be shockingly effective in combat. Fill out your career skills list with Recruit, which can add 10 career skills you didn't have before. Cap it off with Droid Tech to give you Computers, Mechanics, and Improved Speak Binary, so that any helper droids you build are like little Togrutas/Drall when they assist you. Alternately, Artisan has Astrogation, Computers, and Mechanics, and even without a Force Rating you can still pick up a nice cross-section of mechanical and computer-related talents. You don't have everything as a career skill, but that's what Superior Reduction is for.

Sure, the signature ability is only once per session, but for that one encounter, you can look around, jab yourself with a stim, and say "I got this."

That's just brutal.

Instead of Artisan or Droid tech you could go Cyber Tech: Supreme Overcharge!

Well, consider that stolen.

Incidental: Unmatched Expertise

Action: Supreme Overcharge (an Easy Mechanics check!)

2 Advantage to take another Action immediately with Improved Overcharge

Improved Stim Application (Easy Medicine check!) if you're lucky getting a Triumph for Supreme

Still leaving up to 2 Maneuvers available for the turn, multiple Stats boosted, some boosted by 2 and every career skill difficulty reduced by 2 with 2 setback removed...

Now sure it's expensive, around 450xp just for the Doctor talents required, Unmatched Expertise, Cyber Tech talents to Supreme Overcharge and Recruit with the talents to add all the career skills. BUT... THATS INSANE!
