B wings do have a respectable AS pool
That they do. They do it all!
Except getting anywhere quickly. . .
Do people currently play 1 dimensional, nearly all bomber Rhymer builds or try and build air superiority too?

Swap Soontir for Iggy on that bottom list, and that's my Wave 2 build. Mauler is the only ship that doesn't throw a black die at ships, so it would average a solid eight or nine damage in the days before BCC. And backed by some carriers with Flight Controllers, it can eat through enemy squadrons pretty quickly.
I would say if your opponent is sinking the full 134 into squadrons with supporting upgrades from ships (both things like Boosted Comms, Flight Controllers, Bomber Command Center, flak upgrades, Kallus, etc.), you're not going to defeat it with a minimal investment, so tying it up becomes the name of the game. I'm of the opinion that four YT-2400s in a faster fleet are invaluable. You don't need to spend time on Squadron commands. They are fast and can respond to changing conditions. They pack a serious punch against squadrons, and can take a punch, too. Rogue means that you can wait to see where you opponent's squads go before reacting (although this can often mean your opponent can make a first round bombing run if you're not careful or they play aggressively). And for those situations where your opponent doesn't bring any squadrons, those 2400s can reliably get you about three damage a round versus ships, and suck up the flak for a while, too.
Now when Wave 5 comes out, those Decimators might be a great Imperial equivalent. A little slower, but I would guess around two black/two blue anti-squadron dice and seven Hull with Rogue. . .
