I only have the base game. I would like to buy more, but it appears I have entered this game a little too late and now have to play catch up. Are there any MUST BUYS for this game (besides the base game)? Should I hold off on anything for a while? I feel I have had enough plays with the base game, but I want to expand.

I'd go... assuming you can get copies. In this order.

Call to Arms - Adds specialist cards / deployment decks and more terrain. along with the longbow.

Heroes - this (IIMO) takes the game to a different level. Almost a campaign system

Epic - my favourite way to play. Of course, a 2nd base set is better. and except for the cost, would be #1 on my list to you.

Hundred Years War - the best of the the figure expansions (imo) but good luck finding it. I have been told by a FLGS owner that FFG are reprinting the expansions in 2010 - but don't hold your breath on that.

and then any of the other expansions that you might find / are interested in.

Goblin skirmishers / Marauders - adds a band and more gooblinoid cavalry amongst others

Dwarven Battalion - adds more dwarves with spears, clan-chiefs and axe swingers.

Scottish Wars - adds even more Dwarven spear bearers, human heavy knights. Probably the easiest expansion to find.

Troll & Country - epic map and a troll. No cards and the banner glued in (when I got ine - may have changed now)

MUST BUYS ? - probably CtA / Heroes and Epic.

Also when the creatures come out, those probably will be must buys..they should be out in the next few months. but I would agree that Call to Arms and probably Epic would be the next 2 items as well as Heroes (CtA probably be at the top of the list of 3 since you can create new battles with the card system it has).
