Help me finish off my list please

By buckero0, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm trying a new list but am having trouble filling out the last ship or ships

35 / 34 Tomax - Cool Hand, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips, Homing Missile (or Concussion), Seismic Charge

37 Col Vessery - VI, Tractor Beam, Tie D

which only leaves me 28-29pts, I was going to try an Inquisitor, but with AT, he's too many points by 2pts, Darth Vader with ATC and Adaptability is 30 pts, so 1 too many. Is there another ship that can put out some damage like those two?

Hey Buckaroo, why Cool Hand on Tomax? You didn't give him anyway to stress him self on the regular, except turns where he K-Turns. Cool Hand should only go on him if you're running him as a TIE Shuttle with Fleet Officer, and even then, it's a bit pricy for what it does.

Consider the following:

Colonel Vessery (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tractor Beam (1)
TIE/D (0)
The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
"Deathfire" (17)
Extra Munitions (2)
Flechette Torpedoes (2)
Homing Missiles (5)
Conner Net (4)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Total: 98
Deathfire will probably explode first and cost you some points, but the enemy will have to deal with him because his long range target lock and equipped Flechette Torpedo make him a huge threat to Soontir, Inquisitor and similar PtL users. His Conner Net makes him especially dangerous. If your opponent has large bulky ships with lots of HP that you don't expect to arc dodge, Deathfire can probably still lob a super damaging Homing Missile before he explodes. In fact, he's so fragile that you might want to let him roll in slowly and hang back a hair for the first round of combat.
Vessery can piggyback off the Inquisitor's Target Lock for both his primary attack and his tractor beam, thus setting up attacks for Deathfire and the Inquisitor, or just generally moving the enemy ships into crumby spots. Inquisitor here is fully loaded and just a solid back-up unit. Your PS8s have a 2pt bid for similarly skilled Imperial opponents.
I probably would do an x7 Vessery, but I tried to leave the list primarily the way you wanted it. Still gives you tractor beam and bomber fun. Enjoy.

If you drop the homing missiles off of Deathfire, you can fit a hull upgrade on Vessery and proton rockets on Inquisitor, and still have a 1 point bid ;)

Woah, woah, woah...we can take Homing Missiles down to Plasma, purely in the interest of saving points when Deathfire inevitably explodes, but let's not take away ALL his teeth. Still gotta give him a little something to do against a Lothal Rebel or a Palp Shuttle, right?

Thanks guys, I should have mentioned I was planning on taking all debris fields as well. I like the Cool Hand in theory bc when stressed, you actually get a free focus and the action. I was hoping to catch people off-guard with fully modified missiles or well modified missiles and do a lot of 2 turns and 5Kturns. I guess the LRS would work to trigger Vessery's TL, I didn't think of that. Now I wonder if Vader with EU could be squeezed in,hmm.

32 Tomax - CrackShot, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips, Concussion

37 Col Vessery - VI, Tractor Beam, Tie D

31 INQ title, PTL, AT

Is Tomax no long a threat? or can he still harrass ? Ive felt the bomber actually flies pretty well and can reliably get into range 1 of a lot of ships or block with him. Crackshot all the time makes his primary a little more dangerous.

Tomax is most def. still a threat. Especially in combination with a tractor token (or token stripping in worst case) from Vess.
