First crack with a Dash list

By Tbetts94, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Test (100)

Dash Rendar (56) - YT-2400

Push The Limit (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Kanan Jarrus (3), Outrider (5), Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

Lothal Rebel (44) - VCX-100

Fire Control System (2), Dorsal Turret (3), Hera Syndulla (1), Ezra Bridger (3)

I normally play imperials, pretty good with palp aces, swarms and now triple defenders, but I won a tournament yesterday and got store credit so I decided to pick up a YT-2400 and try out a list that's completely different from the usual. I tested this out with Kyle instead of Kanan and what I found is that without Engine on Dash it made it difficult to clear stress and get where I want to be, so I think Kanan is a better choice. I also picked Anti-pursuit Lasers instead of engine for Aces and I'm sure I'll be switching it out for ion projector if I feel there will be a lot of defenders.

Anyways I played this list 3 times versus one of the better players in the area who was testing out his two K-Wing list and even though I lost twice I had a ton of fun and I felt it was because of my mistakes not the list's fault. The third game I was a lot more comfortable with Dash and the VCX and I think this list has a lot of potential. What do you guys think?

You really want to have engine upgrade instead of APL for 2 points more. With push the limit he is far more tougher.

Dash Rendar (58) - YT-2400
Push The Limit (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Kanan Jarrus (3), Outrider (5), Engine Upgrade (4)

that's the Dash you want.. Engine upgrade is a monster and keeps him away from anything else on the board... Kanan makes him a monster..

for the 2 points I'd drop Ezra and take Zeb on the Ghost and use it as a blocker...

My usual Dash/Ghost list is as follows.

58 Dash Rendar (36), Push The Limit (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Kanan Jarrus (3), Outrider (5), Engine Upgrade (4)

42 Lothal Rebel (35), Hera (1), Han Solo (2), Autoblaster Turret (2), Fire Control System (2)

The Lothal is a scary brick with lots of guns, throw it at the enemy and keep shooting those big primaries as long as possible before it goes down. The ABT is cheap and provides a deterrent against aces trying to pile more damage on to you at range 1. Dash skirts round the Ghost dodging where possible and hosing opponent's off the Ghost's blind spots if necessary.

By the time the Ghost goes down (and it usually does), it should have done enough damage that Dash can usually mop up whatever is left.

Is Han Solo worth it? Or better switch to Chopper pilot or another crew?

Autoblaster Turret (2)

"Chopper" (0)

Hera Syndulla (1)

This is, as previously mentioned, the best starting point for Dash's Lothal Rebel wingman.

The last two points are a little bit open to debate. You can take a Flechette Torpedo with G-Chips and Chopper crew, which lets you fire a stress torpedo from your front or rear arc, once per game. The stress is the important factor, as it could potentially let you double stress Soontir or Inquisitor.

You can go to Chopper Pilot, which isn't much of an upgrade, but the PS4 will be relevant against Blackshot Swarms and U-boats.

You can include Han Crew (for more precise modifications with your TL), Dash Crew (teamed up with Hera, in case you just want to fly wherever you want to fly, with reckless abandon), or you can go with Leebo Crew, who will give you like one solid boost action per game, which can be extremely relevant for a large base ship. You can get more boost actions out of him, if you're not worried about ionizing yourself. Even Tactician isn't the worst option ever, since it can hamper the mobility of ships trying to chase Dash (although if you have something in the arc of the Ghost, you probably don't need tons and tons of extra benefits)

Is Han Solo worth it? Or better switch to Chopper pilot or another crew?

YMMV

I have found Han works nicely for me and usually kicks in once or twice per game. He compliments the FCS well which is useful. If you expect to face plenty of U-boats then Chopper will give you the benefit of firing first. The annoying thing is that a lot of the really good upgrades that would fit well here are 3+ points (Ezra, plasma torps, Chewie etc). Feel free to experiment. Most of the 1-2 point upgrades are somewhat situational but if the right situation arises then they can work well.
