The most visually appealing build

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

Do you ever think about how "pretty" a list is going to look when you build it? Like, that's one of my main beefs with doing a swarm of the same type of ships, and one of the reasons I want to do 1000 point games more often - so that when people walk in to the store and stop at your table, they will go "Oh wow! That looks awesome!"

So in a 400 point list, what do you think is the best combination for something to "Look cool"?

ISD-II with 3 Raiders in a diamond formation backed up by a dozen Tie fighters.

Can't look much cooler than that.

Can't top 2 ISD's with a swarm of TIE Fighters, Interceptors, and Bombers.

I play rebels so... no. It's all space potatoes and lumpy cucumbers. :D

The 'one of everything' Rebel build vs Double ISD squadrons.

I see only a single type of iconic Star Wars spaceship here. Therefore, not the winner.

At least, in this thread. Apparently does fine elsewhere:)

See now I don't think you actually wanted to showcase the fleet so much as you wanted to showcase the TWO REGIONALS TROPHYS FROM THE SAME YEAR!

Not really. For the sake of expediency I reused a picture from my AAR instead of doing a separate photoshoot, thats all.

It bothers me that the middle raider is skewed to the side.

EDIT: Oh man...they all turn left. What in the world! Oh the humanity!!!!!!

ISDs had 6 squads, supposedly something like 3xTIE fighter, 2xBomber, 1xInterceptor (i think 6th was a recon squad).

So 2xISD, 6xFighter, 4xBomber, 2xInterceptor at 324+Commander would be a good start for an Iconic looking fleet.

On the Rebel side, their movie presence was alwaus a hodgepodge of ships. So maybe:

Rebels at Endor

Author: Church14

Faction: Rebel Alliance

Points: 396/400

Commander: General Dodonna

Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery

Defense Objective: Fleet Ambush

Navigation Objective: Dangerous Territory

[ flagship ] MC80 Command Cruiser (106 points)

- General Dodonna ( 20 points)

- Home One ( 7 points)

= 133 total ship cost

MC80 Star Cruiser (96 points)

= 96 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)

= 57 total ship cost

1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)

1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)

1 A-Wing Squadron ( 11 points)

1 Y-Wing Squadron ( 10 points)

1 B-Wing Squadron ( 14 points)

1 Rogue Squadron ( 14 points)

1 Han Solo ( 26 points)

Mind you, you didn't say the fleeta had to be good. Also, I supposed I could drop a squad to get Ackbar for the rebels if I was a purist

this is also true for my single raider, also I am not rich enough for more, please donate so I can confirm all raiders are turned slightly to the left.

If anyone could donate it would be me. I loved them so much, or at least the idea of them, that I bought 5. They don't all hit the table together often. Although I do try every once in a while.

This is the most visually appealing build to me.

As it's already been stated, the Imp fleet is pretty obvious. However, the Rebels are a bit tougher. For some reason this is always the image I think of when I picture the typical Rebel Fleet. Neb B, couple of CR-90's, and a mess of Flotillas.

So if I were to shoot for a visually appealing Rebel Fleet, I think I would this photo as a guide and end up with something like this-

Empire Strikes Back

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 400/400

Commander: Mon Mothma

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Fleet Ambush
Navigation Objective: Intel Sweep

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Mon Mothma ( 30 points)
- Jainas Light ( 2 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 83 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette B (39 points)
- Tantive IV ( 3 points)
- Raymus Antilles ( 7 points)
- SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
= 54 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 26 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Slicer Tools ( 7 points)
= 25 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 26 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
- Yavaris ( 5 points)
- Adar Tallon ( 10 points)
= 72 total ship cost

1 Luke Skywalker ( 20 points)
1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)
1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)
3 X-Wing Squadrons ( 39 points)
2 Y-Wing Squadrons ( 20 points)

This is the most visually appealing build to me.

Talk about expensive hobbies...

I usually run whatever, regardless of visual aesthetics. That I make up for by hiring two expensive hookers dressed as slave Leias to accompany me to games, where I cover up my own mediocre looks with an awesome and authentic Boba Fett helmet.

I usually win every game that first hour. Then my paid time is up and it's all a crap shoot at best after the ladies of the evening leave.

This is the most visually appealing build to me.

Talk about expensive hobbies...

I'm actually looking at getting a new WRX Impreza in early 2017. I doubt I will do that much work. NoVA isn't the area for too much horsepower.

Was just experimenting with this a couple of weeks ago. If you use the cheaper version of every ship, you can get one of every imperial ship in a list except the raider, but with the interdictor, gozanti, Motti, and like a grav well upgrade. Not super practical but looks awesome.

Being a Rebel player, who is very interested in the look of my fleet, I say the most visually appealing build is any build that does NOT include the AssFrig mk2, because that sucker is just plain fugly. NebB for life!!!

I do, but it's mainly got to do with upgrade cards ! I try to limit myself only to the upgrade cards that have an artwork that visually matches the faction I'm fielding :D

This is the most visually appealing build to me.

Ahh yes, a good example of the fallacy of engineers.

I am one of this strange players that cant field a list that doesnt look nice or has a theme to it. My Rebel lists are always made to reflect their desperate fleet feel. While my Imperial list always screem discipline and order. Can field a list without squadrons either.

Need more TIEs.... much more TIEs and a darker backgroudn colour. :P

Personally my thoughts is for a single ISD, and maybe a Vic or Interdictor, then all smaller ships like Glad or Raider to contrast the ISD's size.

I like this. Whats your list?
