My Jabba card

By Shadow345, in X-Wing

JABBA THE HUTT (Unique)

Non-Rebel Only

2 Crew Slots

5 Pts

Action: Discard a crew or illicit upgrade on this ship to target one enemy ship at Range 1-2. They take 1 damage for each stress token they have.

Here's the process behind this card.

A) Actually introduces an element to the game that cares about how much stress a ship has which currently doesn't exist. Or in other words, a Zuckuss crew counter.

B) Not random, which is why it costs more than Black Market Slicer Tools.

C) Non-Rebel Only, so that Empire can take him to protect their aces that Zuckuss hurts the most.

... and he can jettison a Rancor "debris field".

I'm thinking, Tycho Instagib, instant 24 damage.

I bet Jabba will come with Condtion cards.

Can he discard himself? Presumably so but just checking... I would not expect to need to use the mighty Jabba more than one per game.

The game could use some counter against stress hoarding ships, but not something that can instakill them.

I like where the anti stress idea is going. Stress is supposed to be a limiting mechanic. For some ships and synergies it's just another token they need to bring. I think punishing ships for having an excess of 5 tokens with damage, or they can't shoot until the get under 5 tokens etc etc. Stress needs to be bought back into play for all ships.

I totally agree with you, but an upgrade that instakills them is too much. BMST is a good start, it hurts them, but not autowin. We need more similar tools available for other factions.

Swarm Missiles/Torpedoes

Range 1-2, Attack 3

Attack (focus): Roll one additional die for each stress the target has.

Weapons disabled token until target ship is under X stress, instead of damage then?

How about -1 Agility per stress token? Too stressed just keeping things together to do a lot of evasive maneuvering.

i picture Jabba doing something with illicits.

Something along the lines of "Once per turn, Jabba may flip a facedown Illicit faceup on any friendly ship"

Considering it makes 0 sense to make him a 1crew slot, that means he can only go on the hound's tooth right now. Meaning he needs fleet-wide access, otherwise it becomes a very weird ship-specific upgrade.

Theres no way jabba would be available to empire. If and when they make him he'll definitely be scum only. If you want a way for empire to protect themselves from zuckuss (which, they dont need. You can already get 2 evades with token and palp even if zuckuss rerolls you into all blanks), it would be some other upgrade

didnt even notice that lol

Yeah there is no way hes available for imperial. The imperials have no reason to have him. Im sure hes done some deals with them, but more than likely information based and nothing more.

Really the only imperial character that could cross faction is Mara Jade. Actual imperial character, excluding boba since he was introduced before scum and im sure if scum was a thing to begin with he'd never be imperial to begin with. I could see Imperials getting scum crew at a price ala "Hiring a Bounty Hunter" but even then Jabba isnt a Bounty Hunter...he's a dealer in goods and information.

Rather than using Jabba to solve as very specific problem of the moment, we can probably play to his theme better.

As an information broker, he could potentially be some sort of upgraded Intelligence Agent. I like the idea of him being a fleet-wide upgrade, so if you use the model of Palp (8 points, two slots), then maybe he works like IA except you can change any one of your ships?

If instead you wanted to play up the smuggling/goods aspect, then maybe something with Illicit upgrades. Being able to flip them face up would be a good way. He could also act like a fleet-wide Glitterstim. Or maybe give your ships illicit slots?

It could also be cool to play up to him as the one setting the bounties. Anyone that attacks him gets a token that any of your other ships can expend to get an extra dice/reroll.

Talon Karrde fits the information broker role better. Jabba fits better with illicits

True, has he made an appearance in the current canon yet?

A little too strong imo. I almost always run a Bossk yv-666 with Zuckuss crew and while I have one shot killed Interceptors many times, when they're in Palp builds they are still really durable even against my build. At end game if my YV is alive it usually has 6+ stress tokens. If Palp wasn't so prevalent maybe I'd consider your Jabba card. Remember too that there already is a negative to taking all that stress, anytime I take a faceup damage card that requires an action to flip down I never can do that. Also no actions and red maneuvers (although k4 and Dengar crew can offset this)
