Hmmm... customer service you think?

By juxstapo, in X-Wing

Bought a /fo...

dropped it, (from tabletop height); solar panel came off.

Popped off cleanly, right at the joint, nothing broken or anything, grabbed some generic "Crazy Glue" and stuck it back on. (interesting to note that with 2 /fo's, 7 TIE/ln's, and 3 Interceptors, I've never had a solar panel just pop off like that, even dropping them on this exact floor from this exact table).

next day, once glue had cured, I had:

"Crazy" was right, glue fumes cooked it white... color me a moron for using the first tube of glue I came across.

think I should ask customer support about this?

Asmodee gives a hot crap about your customer service. FFG used to, but then they merged with an international distributor who thinks it's okay to not answer emails for months. Seriously, still waiting on a reply about these damned purple bases that don't fit half my ships.

Yea, I suspect you're on to something. Went ahead and messaged them and got an announcement telling me to expect some delays because they were very busy getting ready for Gen Con. <_<

Apparently they're going to be Super Prepared for Gen Con.

Hey, at least they replied! Lol.

Looks like it's time to repaint!

From the pic it looks like you put it straight back in the little plastic "case" it came with.

Any form of "super-glue" will give you the same white chalking effect when left to dry in an enclosed space.

Fun fact, it will also show up finger prints on surfaces as it won't stick to the grease from your fingers.

Why would you call customer service fella? You dropped it and it broke. Simple. Should I call Pyrex for the mixing bowl I dropped last week or the butcher for the steak I burnt?

I suspect your moral code dictates that you think it inappropriate to ask for a hand-out when you know the fault lies with you .. but you are here in the hope someone would validate the crazy notion that you are entitled to get a freebie because FFG customer service has a reputation for being second to none.

... otherwise you wouldn't have asked the question .. you'd have just acted .. one way or the other.

Just my 2 cents.

I wouldnt have tried to fix it until CC had been in touch. Companies like Asmodee seem to care little about customers after units are sold. They already have your money and they know no matter what, you will be back for Waves 9, 10 and 11 etc.

I suppose your moral code dictates being an ******* on online forums, doesn't it?

You're way over the line. FFG cares about their products so much that they replace things even when a customer drops it because they want to produce a quality product. I've broken 2 ships cuz the **** pegs were to tight and they've replaced them for me. FFG has now earned my trust so I know I'm not worried about a product being **** quality. They keep earning my trust so I keep buying from them. Their customer service is doing a great job at least with me. The OP is asking an honest question and you shouldn't respond with an ******* comment.

Have you tried a little bit of water. Superglue fumes can be "dissolved" if your lucky, doesn't always work

Calm down... FFG has always been top notch with support. They are under new management and are dealing with Disney having a hand in everything Star Wars. They are getting back on track and trying to get 2 sets realised by rather end of the year. You can't expect them to replace items that you drove but they probably will. Just give them a couple of weeks and send them another message.

Keep the change.

No, seriously, keep it. Take it over to Reddit where it's welcome.

:)

My moral code, what's left of it, is awash with anecdotes about Defenders getting dropped and ran over and FFG replacing them, pegs getting broke and FFG replacing them, cannons coming off of X-Wings and FFG replacing them.. my moral code was, however, dubious as to whether or not this was still the case; hence the forum post.

And yea, I should've taken the pic pre-glue attempt.

No, I haven't. I tried dry brushing it off, but didn't wet it. I'll give it a go.

FWIW, I didn't put it right back in the blister, but stuck it on a shelf in the closet, propped on it's side so the weight was down on the glued joint. Which apparently the slightly bigger space doesn't matter since it fumed up anyway.

Wow. People in the X-Wing Forum now jump on folks asking about customer service too. Keep up the Aces work, boys!

FWIW, I recently contacted Customer Service for a replacement docking clamp for my TIE Carrier. I broke it the first time I used it, and I told them I needed it for the Epic tournament at GenCon. They kindly sent me a knew one and wished me luck! Asmodee has made Customer Service a little more strict, but they still have great people working there.

The Junk Folder..Where important messages from little used sources go to die...

It has caught me out more times than I care to admit too.
