Your Best Buy?

By Darkcloak, in X-Wing

What was you best buy? The ship that completed your favourite list, or one you weren't sure about and then tried and liked it? Which X-Wing purchase were you most satisfied with?

Mine was my second Phantom. The first one was like, okay now I have a Phantom. Didn't really use it until I got two, and then well... it was love at first decloak.

What about you?

TIE advanced prototype 100%.

Now I own 3...

Imperial Veterans, because I got into this game hoping Defenders would come out, and really enjoying playing multiple bombers. When they did release Defenders, they were underwhelming, and ordnance back then was still awful.

Now my two favourite ship types are not just what they should have been, they're outright competitive (well, that may be a stretch on the Bomber).

Gencon ARC

So pretty ....

My first core set 2 weeks before Christmas 2013, even though I was almost sure I was getting one from my girlfriend. I did, along with 5 other ships from other friends and family, but I just could not wait. I was like 12 years old again.

Imperial Aces. Jax is by far my favorite pilot/ship, and the red Ints are gorgeous.

Just out of spite for the other "plz nerf" threat there:

3 Jumpmasters! :D

Every single ship I have. They're all so pretty!

Phantom.

Got my first at the imdarr alpha event, so I got to terrorize my friends with it before it was released

I Did terrible in the final game with the defender and phantom in the squad (was also sick and no sleep) but in the end even though I lost, I managed to really make him work for it.

Given that was pre decloak nerf. I haven't played with the phantom much since, but then dusted it off before store championship season, and won a store championship with whisper, omega and yorr.

The rebel transport. I love X Wings and Y Wings, and this one pack makes the stresshog possible through R3-A2, makes Biggs that much more viable with R4-D6, and it has Wes and Tarn, two of the X Wing's best pilots. Never played an epic game, but still love this expack (if not the price point).

Rebel Transport

Wes Janson

R3-A2

R5-P9

R4-D6

First Core set, from Amazon...for some reason, their system said it hadn't been delivered, and so they sent me another...I chose not to argue, so bargain!! :P

...meant we could play 60pt first games, rather than 30s :)

Y-wing, since I use Dutch almost all the time.

Definitely the TAP. I ordered online because nobody I spoke to locally had any. Then I discovered my current FLGS and they had them in-stock. I tried to cancel the online order, but it had already shipped so I ended up with two and figured it's only 12 bucks who cares. It only took me flying them once to immediately buy 2 more for a total of 4.

My first YV-666. I used to be strictly a Rebel player that had some scum ships on on the side. Once I got my hands on the YV though I switched to Scum and haven't looked back. With so many great crew options like Zuckuss and Dengar for Scum it's awesome to fly with those 3 crew slots. Also had a winning record at my last 2 store championships because of it.

The Raider. Finally, an Imperial ship for Epic play!! (I was using a repainted corvette for the year before, but knew I was outside RAW).

Apart from maybe the HWK for personal nostalgia reasons, I think I'd have to say the CR90. It's big, it's gorgeous, and it's the first ship shown in the Star Wars movies. It's just kind of got it's own symbolic nature to it, that even if it doesn't get much play time, it's a delight to have. And shows off better than the imperial cheese knife.

Getting started was the best thing. Since then the Rebel Aces, TFA Core Set, T-70, and Imp Veterans have been particularly good.

Mist Hunter - my first Scum ship

TIE Defender.

Hounds Tooth

There is nothing else like it in the game. You have to fly it differently and this is a fun challenge.

Most Wanted. Have been mainly a Scum player ever since.

All for one and one for personal profit!

The Gozanti carrier. So many options for campaign play!

Rebel Transport and Core set.

I use R3-A2, Wes, Biggs, Wedge and the rest all the time. My girlfriend likes the named TIE pilots from the Core when she wants to play. Far ahead of anything else, I could have stopped at two Cores and the Transport but everyone knows what happens.

Extra dice pack brought the turning point. Now I was able to attack and defend with four dice!
