Tie SF how are poeple liking it?

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

As cool and powerful as the other ships in Wave 9 are, I keep hoping the TIE/sf will be some sort of sleeper hit once people start playing it. Not just because I like all TIE ships and like seeing them do well, but also out of spite for everyone that declared it DOA because it didn't fit the Empire's running "theme" of fast, arc-dodging ships.

It's DoA competitively because of its defence or lack thereof, two green dice are pretty pathetic with a focus you'll at best get one evade a turn you can count on.

It's got decent hit points but no way to protect em.

So it becomes an easy target and we imps have no Biggs, one turn sees a third of the list gone handing the other guy a potential massive advantage.

I'm not happy about this I really wanted it to be good but the poor defence and dial on a ship that should really move are just shocking.

The TIE/SF is a very solid ship, and it'd probably see a lot of play if it weren't Imperial though. Sadly, though, it's competing with the Inquisitor, Soontir Fel, Omega Leader, and TIE Defenders in that relative price range. And Soontir and Inquisitor, in particular, are insanely good for their price, so it's unlikely many Imperial options will ever be able to really out compete them there.

"This thing really moves!"

Except that it doesn't.

I am perfectly fine with it at 2 Agility, but not with that dial and points cost.

It is dead to me Jim!

Same Keffish... for me the dial and point cost is the killer on this ship. The dial just has FAR too many reds on it and it is not a particularly cheap ship either.

I will still buy one so that I can try it out, as it may end up being a decent generic ship used in the same way as my PS 1 B wing.

What do people think a 3 attack dice ship with that stat line and a rear arc should cost? Cheaper than a Bwing?

It doesn't have 3+ agility.

No Autothrusters.

No high PS boost and barrel roll.

It's not cheap enough to spam with Crackshot.

It's not a turret.

It is DoA. I would have no problem crushing one with my Inquisitor Vessery Palp Aces squad, I'd see it as a ship that I could easily kill without having to take out Palpatine first.

It's decently costed if it was in wave 3. The B-Wing hasn't been playable for like 4 waves now either.

It could be 20 points and 5 of them still wouldn't do jack **** to Palp Aces.

I'll be done trying to convince people about this ship but I think those that are pronouncing it DoA will be proven wrong. I think of that term for ships like Scyks, The Punisher, The K figher, etc -- ships that really don't have and never have had a single consistently competitive pilot. I am confident there will be competitive builds that come out of the tie/sf.
