Check the games that were commonly known at the time the original movie came out.
That background looks very much like a mix of the original Tron gamer arcade and the kinds of signs you might expect to see in a movie set in Las Vegas around the 1950s or 1960s.
EDIT: I guess you have to be like 50 years old to get those references. Sigh….
