Just wondering what you guys think on this.
What Will BMST Do to Palp-Aces?
What's BMST?
You might see a swing to non PTL aces for a while, but overall still a strong archetype. Yorr might see more play time.

It's bad news for the Inquistor and for Soontir. For those who continue to play PalpAces expect a shift towards TIE defenders and Vader. They're more killable but less vunerable to BMST.

Action: Choose a stressed enemy ship at Range 1-2 and roll 1 attack die. On a hit or a critical hit result, remove 1 stress token and deal it 1 facedown damage card.
Edited by Boba RickVery little. I think you'll see the likes of Vader and /x7s of various stripes more, but in the end palp/aces involves 'get as many ships with focus/evade every round as possible, and make them tankier' which hasn't stopped being possible because slicers exist.
Just means you need to have someone in your list carrying "wingman" (Vader works great for this) to pull the stress off the PtL ace between one round's action phase and the next.
Or Yorr just gets more common.

Ooh, not good for a wings. Yep, card needs a ban.
I think it was Brad Miller who suggested maek, soontir palp a while ago. I liked the list quite a bit and marek is basically immune to stress.

Soontir is not a fan of Yorr - if he doesn't get stressed, he doesn't get focused.
It's really not going to do as much as people think. It's just going to make certain ships viable again, but not at the expense of blowing Inquisitor and Soontir out of the water.
Soontir represents an extreme (and hated) end of the spectrum. You either bring tools to deal with him or he punishes you for not coming prepared. Having those tools doesn't mean you always win the match, it just means you have some answers to him and he has to exercise caution so as not to get smacked around by those answers. BMST is one more answer that will never win a fight single handedly, but it will give ships who had no answers to Soontir the option of paying a small insurance premium to not end up useless against him.
BMST opens up more list diversity for competitive level players, but it will by no stretch of the imagination chase Soontir and Inquisitor out of the meta.
I think it makes life a bit harder for Inquisitor at only 2 hull. Other aces aren't so bothered.
Friend tried it recently but given that I don't use PTL aces that much it was not very effective, he put flechette torps on a few ships but only managed to get one off.
Think he took one shield of Rexler so was largely a waste of points.

Like Wampa, BMST goes directly to hull.
Also, its not a waste of points, but a waste of a point . Unless you take more than one of course. But spending 1 point to give you better chances at winning what could otherwise be a very difficult matchup is not a bad idea at all...

If I'm running a 3-ship Scum list, I'm sticking one on every ship.
Aces and Dengaroo are so popular right now that it'd be silly not to take BSMT.
Besides the 1-point cost, the strength of BSMT is that (1) it's an action and (2) only removes a stress if you successfully deal a damage, allowing you to spam it across multiple ships until you're successful.
That really covers the biggest weakness for ships like Guri, Cartel Marauders, etc.
Edited by zerotcremove 1 stress , roll a blank and Palpatine just laughs.
Expect to see less soontir *and* Inquisitor lists, basically. One or the other is a reasonable gamble, provided that your other ace isn't running PTL - so expect to see more whisper, Vader, Omega leader and defenders - and an Inquisitor + Yorr probably feels pretty confident too.
But the days of everything running PTL have a time limit; the counter isn't automatic but it's harder to deal with.
Irony: the upgrade is great on torp boats.
Has anyone actually run Soontir Inq vs bmst?
remove 1 stress , roll a blank and Palpatine just laughs.
That's not how the force works... Like did you even read the card before? Stress is removed if successful damage, damage is rolled by the opposite player so no plaping it.
literally nothing

IDK about that. Vessery with Stealth Device, x7, and Juke with Palp backup is pretty much invincible.
I have used it along with Ventress and it was pretty effective against Soontier. Stress him and get a BMST off on him and he ran for a bit to unstress or get to range 3. That said it still is only a 50 50 shot on him. It seems to be more of a thing to make Soontier think twice about stressing.
If BMST becomes a huge threat to palp-aces I can see people using the upsilon ship as a counter with coordinate.
Might mean a shift way from Soontir. Ol' boy can use a break, fighting in almost every battle for this glorious Empire for the last few years...
