Gozanti is there not to do damage but to either slow down the swarms or to break them up. Divide and conquer.

I like the Gozanti and I'm a fan of its ability to drop ships right into the middle of the fight, in position, with no chance of bumping or ending up at a bad range. I'd probably load a Howlrunner Crackswarm into it. For example, Mauler Mithel isn't typically the most impressive, but when you can drop him right on top of somebody at Range 1 with Howlrunner just behind him, he gets better.

Here you have a Gozanti that's loaded up with 4 Tie Fighters. Three of them at PS7 and one is PS8, so they should act pretty quick. You deploy them when the battle is about to begin and lob them into Range one of the enemy forces. Mauler should ideally be firing with 4 dice, a focus token, a Howlrunner re-roll for a blank result, and a crackshot. That's gonna sting. After your other boys get the prime target into hull damage, you can also milk Scourge for bonus attack dice. You should be able to peel off an enemy ship or two before they fire.
The Gozanti itself can take a reinforce action to brace for battle then use the Targeting Coordinator to take two target locks and pass one of them. The Target Lock can also be used as a modifier when you fire Homing Missiles, so you should be able to put a decent sized hurt on an enemy ship in your firing arc.
The Defenders can fly alongside the Gozanti. Using Targeting Coordinator you can give your Glaive Squadron Pilot a target lock, then use Weapon's Engineer to retain a target lock for yourself (in order to fire the Homing Missiles, with the Gozanti), then when Vessery attacks, he should have the benefit of Juke, a focus token, and a free target lock by firing at either the Glaive's target or the Gozanti's target. What you've got is a team of PS 6-8 guys who are accurate and have Juke and Crackshot to punch extra damage home.
Good times.

CBMarkham is right in saying that Targetting Coordinator is essential if you are using Ordnance Tubes. You really need to Reinforce, so that's the only way I know of to do that whilst also getting a Target Lock except for the Automated Protocols card.

However, I also think that it's a lot of points to spend on the Gozanti's weapons. The turret is more versatile and taking Automated Protocols also increases versatility. Weapons Engineer becomes less important so other crew can be considered.

Poor scum, you won't let them play.
