Phoenix leader's ability looks awesome. The idea of keeping him in tight formation with other A-Wing's might be fun to play around with.
Hera in an A-Wing scares the crap out of me.
Shadow would be a nightmare to pin down.
Spectre's ability would certainly be helpful, but I'm not sure how balanced a potential ps 10 Phantom would be.

And Sabine does not. It would almost be worth using Veteran Instincts and Adaptability to bring her to PS 8.
sabine is in enough crap.
PS10 phantom would be a nightmare, really only countered by autoblasters at that point or poor flying. I was actually talking about that yesterday when someone mentioned they want new phantom pilots to top the PS9 guys: if that EVER happened, the pS9 guys would start taking VI again just like before to trump the PS10/11 phantom before it shoots: its one of the VERY FEW ships where firing first is everything.
Echo is my favorite phantom purely because of the freedom of movement she gets with that bank. I'd like to see more pilots that bend the cloaking rules:
When decloaking, you may use the 3straight if boosting
When decloaking, you may decloak through obstacles with no penalties
Before decloaking, you may perform a free barrelroll action.
Echo is routinely one of the hardest ships to predict because she can turn before moving, while everyone else shifts perfectly to the side/forward. She effectively has 6 places she could decloak to, while others have 3, and those 6 can vastly change her approach vector.
Phoenix Leader's ability looks pretty powerful, one might say even too powerful and has a high potential for abuse. After all, focus tokens are one of the most powerful things in the game. I mean, it's not a stretch to think that you could run head long into that A-Wing surrounded by some X-Wings each having 3 focus tokens (if they all creep up at speed 2 into the battle). That would be no joke. Or you could use Deadeye and concussion missiles with an extra focus to nearly guarantee 4 hits without even needing guidance chips.
Shadow has a cool ability, it makes his decloak even more unpredictable and there isn't a tone of room for abuse. Spectre's pilot ability is just over the top combined with his PS. VI, at PS 10 he could decloak, move, evade, declare target, focus, then fire and immediately recloak with ACD. So now the only people who would have a chance in hell of hitting him are PS 9 or 10 pilots who can boost themselves over PS 10. Because hitting a cloaked Phantom with an evade that may or may not still have a focus is going to be practically impossible. Throw a sensor jammer on him and you might as well not bother wasting your shot trying to hit him. Without a focus, your first two hits would be ignored, so you'd have to get three hits to even make him roll his
four
defense dice.
And they have a new card coming out, collision detector or something, that allows you to barrel roll/boost/decloak over objects and ignore crits for zero points. I think decloaking through an obstacles with no penalty would be a little much. But it's going to make flying with Echo a LOT of fun. I do love Echo, because being able to show up practically anywhere is pretty awesome.
Phooenix Leader should not be an 8! He was not very good of a pilot, a 6 is generous to him, and the Phoenix Squadrons should not be 4s either, again too high. Have you seen how bad many of them are? I'm not the same as many people on the forum that think they are 0 worthy, but not a 4 (2 would be better since we dont have a pilot level 2 Awing). And leader at a 6, he is no Jake or Tycho...and no where near a Poe!
Phoenix Leader's ability is pretty solid, maybe even too good, but I'd say test the ability out.
I honestly think that just keeping his own OR other ships at range 1 is good enough...both seems overkill. The support role where he makes "other friendly ships at range 1" not remove thier focus tokens would be pretty cool.
Also maybe making it just him and putting it at a limit of 1 focus token on his ship...otherwisee you'll get slow moving A-wings double or triple focusng before combat...and we already know that Awing swarm can be a good list in the game...this would make it insane!

Every now and then I run Echo with Decoy and Epsilon Ace for fun. It is great fun.
Pheonix leaders' ability would be fine if it was written similar to Comms relay. Since it's possible for his ability to affect others, it shouldn't restrict the ship to only having 1 token. Instead, it should say during the end phase do not discard a focus token. That way you can't infinitely stack them. You can choose if its a token/ship, or a token period. My preference would be gravitating to one total.

Why is Sabine not in a Phantom? She's in everything else
I didn't mention Sabine because I didn't think it was as scary as Hera because you can get similar (though not exact) movement options of an A-Wing with Kanan crew in the shuttle, and still have a three dice attack. But I had forgotten about the title. Flying Sabine at PS 8 would be a lot of fun, though I'd probably just bump her up to PS 7 to keep PTL on her.
I also forgot how much "green" the A-Wing has, this would make Hera very scary.

This is why she is my most used pilot. So much fun flying her around and having people look at her and say "Crap, where is she going this time?" Then don't go where they thought you were going, cause a bump when they move after your decloak or decloak so you end up right on their tail after moving. It is just awesome!
where's Sabine in the stolen phantom?

where's Sabine in the stolen phantom?
but that is the nice thing about Sabine
you could put her at the wheel of anything and it'd be instantly viable
even (and especially ) Shuttle tydirium

ive completely side-stepped a rock and ended up behind my opponent several times. Every time i get the "HOW THE HELL DID SHE GET THERE" response.
By sidestepping, i mean im literally on the opposite side of the rock and facing him as he thought i was going to continue the "joust" the normal way. Only echo could completely skirt around a rock like that lol. Without touching said rock either.
My only complaint about Echo is the usual phantom woes: if she doesnt shoot first, shes in trouble. Dengar is my bane. Literally the only reason i view Whisper as any good in comparison is because at least she can get PS9 with VI and if you get init you can shoot before the PS9 troubles.

her scum too, if it weren't restricted to the mobile arc and therefore only one ship-type so far
also, unrelated note, Shuttle Tydirium grants your action bar the "Coordinate action"
because it's an older code, sir, but it checks out
