Experience With Davith

By Aegisbrand, in Imperial Assault Campaign

So, with Bespin having been out for a fair bit now, has anyone had any experience using Davith in a campaign? I have recently begun a Hoth campaign, with myself using Davith (and MHD), and just curious about some feedback on ability paths available to him, and any advice he can given.

Thanks!

I've found he is better as a crowd control character that can take out multiple figures with Blindside and Fel Swoop, I've actually started the Bespin finale with Davith taking out 4 trooper figures as his first activation. Of course he wants a cleave weapon for this role, so if you decide to buy his lightsaber then you are dedicating him to a more assassin role that can deal high damage to a single target.

Either way, I have found the lightsaber to be underwhelming compared to most of his other skills. Until you start getting ways to generate a ton of extra surges and make him consistently hidden, it only upgrades the daggers pierce 1 to pierce 3. Falling Leaf is really good for a damage boost and making it easier for him to get hidden on his first attack, Blindside is great for getting free damage out of force speed. Fel Swoop is amazing but you really want to have Blindside beforehand for full-effect and Falling Leaf or Balanced Hilt is important for being able to trigger it consistently.

Covert Operative is useful for getting the hidden train rolling, Elusive Agent is useful but shouldn't be prioritized, great as the last skill you buy in a campaign. I have not used force illusion or one with the force, but they look pretty terrible.

If you have Fenn, Gaarkhan or Verena in your team, I would go Covert Op, Lightsaber, Blindside, Fel Swoop, Falling Leaf. If you've got Mak, Biv, or Loku, I'd go with Falling Leaf, Blindside, Fel Swoop, Elusive Agent.

I definitely think Shrouded Lightsaber is a trap, especially if you can get the vibrosword early as it makes the benefit of spending 3xp on an early t3 weapon even less valuable.

If you skip the lightsaber, you can get both of his fantastic 4 xp skills.

I am still early into my hoth campaign with him but i definitely see his potential.

Hmm... I am kind of kicking myself for turning down the Vibrosword after the first mission of Hoth now... I passed in favour our Jyn getting a tactical display and DDC pistol. At the time, I was thinking about the lightsaber, but I admit, I have started leaning towards upping his abilities more than using the xp for a weapon. This is especially true as we have the Ancient Lightsaber in the deck, as well...

Vibrosword is really good, but it does need balanced hilt and high impact guard to really shine (Those 2 mods with the pierce 1 give near T3 level of dmg).

Giving Jyn the DDC defender wasn't necessarily a bad choice, but you still need to buy Jyn the DL-44 (as an offhand for Gunslinger), which means you are putting all of your early eggs in one basket so to speak.

And Tac Display is always a priority.

I could have passed on the DDC Defender, myself, but I did not want to hijack the other players options. I think he got blinded by the possibility of three attacks. Truth be told, I think some of my group are still focused on DPS, and have not quite caught onto the full benefits of surge abilities.

In all likelihood, I will make the case for the DL-44 again, then argue to prioritize the other heroes (Biv, MHD and Davith). At least the DL-44 is not terribly expensive, or all the gear to kit out a decent melee character. Also, truth be told, I will likely not prioritize MHD all that much, as I will be more focused using him to keep others alive. That just leaves funding for Davith and Biv.

Yeah, with a 4 hero group you shouldn't be buying weapons for your dedicated support; just give MHD your hand-me-downs :)

He's going to have focused attacks when he needs them anyway, so he doesn't need an amazing weapon.
