I am working on these custom cards for casual play with friends. (AKA, what I think needs improved in the game.) I avoided adding custom pilots on purpose. I plan to play once Wave 9 is released to us commoners. Please tell me what would and would not work, your thoughts and critiques. Here were my goals:
1. Balance the game
2. Give under-used ships a niche’ roll
3. Keep it simple and elegant
4. Make it thematic
5. Do not make anything overpowered
R7e Astromech
Astromech
E-Wing Only

When defending against a secondary weapon, you may add an <Evade> to your roll.
Thoughts: I wanted to give the E-Wing a distinct roll, taking down ordnance and secondary weapon dependent ships (The Outrider, Defenders/Ds, BroBots and of course the U-Boats.) This really has no effect on ships that just use primaries. It also takes up the astromech slot so it cannot be used with the infamous “Rebel Regen” for Corran.
Rogue Squadron

You can only attack once per round.
You may immediately preform an attack on an enemy ship that declares you a target inside your firing arc.
Thoughts: I am trying to bring the jousting back to the X-Wing. Rogue Squadron fires first. With potentially destroying something like a TIE before it gets a shot off, or just weaken its attack with the use of focus tokens.
Gyroscopic Cockpit

After you execute a maneuver with a bank speed of 2, if you are not touching another ship and you are not stressed, you may rotate your ship 90 degrees either direction.
Thoughts: This gives the B-Wing a little more help on the maneuver dial and gives some unique movement to only the B-Wing. I don’t know how much this would help in the long run, but it would make it more unpredictable.
Scarlet Star (Unique)

You may equip a <crew> upgrade that states “huge ships only” and does not have a requirement for <energy>.
Thoughts: I would like to see other uses for this ship beside Dash. There are some interesting Epic crew cards I would like to see in standard games. It only leaves 3 cards to actually use (Raymus Antilles, Jan Dodonna and Carlist Rieekan.) For the price I think they would be worth it. Eaden Vrill plus Raymus Antilles would make a great Ace and Defender Hunter as well, while not extremely overpowered in today’s meta.

If you equip a <crew> upgrade, its squad points are reduced by 2.
Thoughts: I am trying to increase support ship use. While the HWK-290 will never be (and should not be) a frontline ship, it is a fun support ship. So a slight decrease in points for crew.
Cloned Transponder

Scum Only
Small Ships Only

You may equip 2 <title> upgrades cards.
Thoughts: This would give Scum a chance to give up their modification for a title slot. Too many of the Scum ships are dependent on titles. It is small ships only just because of those IG-88s.
Hutt Indentured Ace

Your Upgrade bar gains an <illicit> slot. You Must Equip 1 “Dead Man’s Switch” upgrade Card.
You cannot equip this upgrade if your pilot skill is 4 or lower.
Thoughts: This cheapens the Scyk’s up by 2 points and giving them a free Dead Man’s Switch. I did not want to make them too cheap hence the pilot skill requirement. This also would make the Heavy Scyk much more affordable (With the Cloned Transponder.). Plus, I just think it is funny owing a Hutt and what you would have to do to pay off that debt.
Vaksai Customization

When defending, you may apply range bonuses to secondary weapons. When defending through an obstructed attack, you may roll an addition defense dice.
Thoughts: Talonbane Cobra, he is hurting more and more. This would give the Kihraxz a similar role as the E-Wing, secondary weapon hunter. Not as good as the E-Wing, would be, but cheaper. Also, it adds the bonus of hiding behind asteroids and tactical jammers. Talonbane played tactically could become super slippery.
MandalMotors Production Model

Your Upgrade Bar gains a <system> slot.
Thoughts: With both titles this would give it 2 system slots. You can get a lot of strange and useful combinations out of them. It also increase the pilot skill by 1, something Guri and Xizor both need.
Twin Linked Ordnance Launcher Upgrade

Once per round, after you perform a secondary weapon attack on a Large or Huge ship, you may immediately perform another secondary weapon attack.
Thoughts: This give the Punisher a purpose, hitting Large and Huge ships hard. Against small fighters it is still the same. I just think it would make good thematic sense while giving Large base ships some concern. (And in epic to target those capital ships.) It fits in a nice niche’.
Final thoughts: Which ideas are the best, which are the worst? Are any cards an instant "NO"? Would you be more likely to play any of these ships if they were in play with these modifications cards? Are any that you think would be over powered for the price point? Do they make any other ship completely useless? Anyway to simplify the wording?
