Madines Turtle and Sledgehammer

By MandalorianMoose, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So we have been beating the interdoctor repair fleet to death, but do the rebels have a similar option? This is what I came up with, let me know whatchya think. Inb4 no squads bombers will rip it apart etc etc.

I think the reason this idea is going to work better for Imperials is that the interdictor has a massive self Maintanence capability (5 Engineering) and is a Medium size hull. I feel like a Neb B acting as a medic risks getting singled out and blown to pieces pretty quick. Maybe Transports with repair crews would fulfill your dreams a little better here?

Redemption is an integral part of the fleet though, as it essentially ups everyone's engineering value by 1, greatly increasing repairability across the whole fleet. And yes the Interdictor will definitely do it better, as that is what it's built to do. I just wanted to see if there was a viable way to do it as rebels

So I understand that Redemption improves your others ships Engineering, but that's only helpful if you already plan to use engineering commands on the battleships. Interdictor can keep a fleet humming because it uses it's own activation on behalf of the harder hitting ship to keep that ship fighting while it focuses on the shooting and maneuvering exclusively. That's why I suggest using Transports with repair crews in this case. Instead of an 'Interdoctor' you get a couple of nurses that work to their keep the parent ship going. Going this Redemption route forces your battleships to see to themselves because you can't repair the shields you are projecting away effectively, and she only has 7 shields to begin with. Even a token fighter Force is going to be a lethal threat to Neb B that is acting like this. For the 85 pts we are spending here, you can get 3 transport hulls with 2 Comms net and a repair crew and still have 8 pts. kicking around for an upgrade somewhere else or a modest bid for initiative.

Madine wants you to perform multiple Nav commands. Positioning there is your offense and defense. Redemption wants you to perform multiple engineering commands. So your dials are fighting with each other over what commands to do. For Redemption, you want a build that just always does engineering commands. The MC80A is great with this, but you can build it up a bit further. Squadrons chipping at your shields will make a mess of you, so its not really possible to go squadronless and hope you can heal it all back.

I know the title of the post is "Madine," but redemption pairs well with Garm. Free engineering tokens=free engineering commands. Also, I don't feel like the Neb wants to give away its shields. CR90s have just as many shields, but also the ability to redirect damage...

That, or you can keep Madine and throw in Tantive and move Raymus over to the Tantive. You can throw out 2 free engineering tokens each turn.

Trying to preserve your hammer:

Maybe drop Neb to support refit, no PE, no TRC, no Raymus (26 points)

Drop MC80A to command, no IO, change spinal to Xi7 (18 points)

(+44 total)

Add CR90B with Tantive (42 points)

You get an extra activation which helps out Defiance in particular, and your fleet overall. You have significantly less AS capabilities, but this list really doesn't seem to care for that anyways. If you could find it in your heart to get Raymus on that Tantive, that'd be great. It could serve as an AS capital ship to deter enemy squadrons.

But this is as a fan of CR90s. The repair crews flotilla does not necessarily pair with redemption, but a comms net flotilla with Leia free up more points and serve the same function as Tantive. It would also pair very well with Madine, having Leia on board. As Vergilius pointed out, Madine and redemption clash, but Leia throws in some flexibility.
