Maneuver Dial Upgrade Kit - Are they reusable?

By Ken at Sunrise, in X-Wing

This is over at BGG

We have had these for some time now. So I have a couple of questions if anyone would like to share, about wear and tear, whether you use them, etc...

I have a poll over at BGG

Please sign in, fill out the questions and leave any comments.

Thank you,

I'm really not going to bother going to a different site and creating an account but I can say they're super reusable and they look great with a simple coat of paint. They've simplified my storage since I only store the back halves of dials now and I have 6 of each faction (2 packs per) and no issues running whatever I want. I've got nothing but positives for them.

What about poping the small ship token in and out?

It just comes out when you take out the dial. The dial is all that holds it in.

I really, really didn't want to get these. But, after all the positive reviews and recommendations, I'm starting to rethink it.

Everything sits in a sandwich. The ship token sits freely in the little window with the dial sitting freely on top of that. That center piece on top of the dial is what snugs it all down. To remove simply push on the little ship token from the back and it all pops out nicely.

they are pretty awesome. I love mine. gonna buy more

They're great. The plastic peg and hole that holds the dial and token could loosen, but I don't think it'll wear out to the point of falling out.

They make dial storage so much nicer. Instead of storing fat, double cardboard discs with a thicker plastic pin between them, you can just sort the maneuver dial with the associated tokens for easy access.

Wow. That'd make my storage so much easier to handle.

Where did you get the binder and sheet for the ship base (large and small) and the dials????????

I'd like to know that too. I'm assuming some coin storage, but that's AWESOME. I'm salvating over here thinking about how much space that would save.

The dial binder pages are Ultra Pro 20-pocket pages with flaps.

The small ship base binder pages are Lead Dog 30-pocket pages with thumb cuts for 1.5" x 1.5" coins.

The large ship base binder pages are 6-pocket pages for 3.5" x 3.5" photos, forgot the brand.

I ordered them from ebay, in bundles of 10 to 25 pages.

OK, I have got to get me some of those!!! I never even thought of putting any of that stuff in pocket pages. Thanks!

does anyone have the dimensions of a maneuver upgrade?

height and width, assuming it is round.

Exactly 5 cm diameter with a height of 1 cm. If you measure from the pacman wedge cut-out, it's about 4.8 cm wide.

And 5cm is 1.97" for those of you with post-medieval measurement systems ;)

I wonder how the book works if you have over 100 ships?

[edit P.S. remember each ship comes with several bases]

I had the same thought, but my son wanted some, so I got him some for his TIE/D list... and I was hooked. They really are great.

Are you swapping out the dials or one for each ship?

You get three in a pack, so try one for your favorite squad and if you don't like it, we'll it was only half the cost of a small ship.
