Looking to tweak my Ryad, Tomax, Inquisitor List

By Obfuscation, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been playing this list a little bit and as you might guess, when you can get Tomax's missiles off it's not bad at all. However, when he picks up an early crit (as he is wont to do), it's just a mess. Any suggestions welcome.

Started with this:

Countess Ryad (34)
Push the Limit (3)
TIE/x7 (-2)
Tomax Bren (24)
Crack Shot (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Homing Missiles (5)
Assault Missiles (5)
Guidance Chips (0)
The Inquisitor (25)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
Total: 100
Thinking about moving some points off Tomax and going with this:
Countess Ryad (34)
Push the Limit (3)
TIE/x7 (-2)
Tomax Bren (24)
Crack Shot (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Homing Missiles (5)
Ion Bombs (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
Total: 100
Was also thinking about scrapping The Inquisitor and going with Omega Leader or maybe just 2 generic TIE's of some kind.

Second list is definitely an improvement. Inquisitor needs PTL and Tomax isn't likely to get all 4 missiles off anyway.

My only advice would be to consider dropping the Ion Bombs for mk2 engines on Ryad. It really opens up her dial and makes her less predictable. It also has the side-benefit that it pushes her cost to 36 points which is above Soontir and VI Vader - both of which struggle to kill a Ryad in the end-game.

Change Tomax Bren in a Shuttle like this:

Tomax Bren Build

You can also remove the two Twin Engine to get Proton Rocket on the Inquisitor.

This is good advice.

You can even change the homing missile to a different type of missile or torp (such as proton torp or concussion missile). Not quite as good as homing missile, but that would allow you to keep the ion bomb if you really like having it and still make room for Twin Ion engine on Ryad (which she really needs at the minimum if you're going to put push the limit on her).

This is a good thought. I don't have the Punisher pack so I'll pick one up and give this a try. I love Ryad and the Mk II will surely make her even more of a pain in the arse.

It would require changing one pilot, but maybe this:

Tomax Bren (Crack Shot, Plasma Torpedoes, Homing Missiles, Guidance Chips) - 33 pts

Countess Ryad (Push the Limit, x7 title, Twin Ion Engine Mk. II) - 36 pts

Valen Rudor (Push the Limit, v1 title, Proton Rockets, Autothrusters) - 31 pts

100 points

You could also remove Proton Rockets on Valen and put Proximity Mines on Tomax.

What these guys said. Finally got around to playing Ryad with PtL and Mark II Engines and holy crap is she maneuverable!!

I use this list. Stating the obviouse but the key is playing Bren right to get the missiles off against the ace or swarm.

TIE Defender: · Countess Ryad (34)

Push The Limit (3)

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

TIE/x7 (-2)

TIE Bomber: · Tomax Bren (24)

Crack Shot (1)

Extra Munitions (2)

Homing Missiles (5)

Assault Missiles (5)

Guidance Chips (0)

TIE/fo Fighter: · "Omega Leader" (21)

Juke (2)

Comm Relay (3)

I've got a similar list that I call "Crazy 8's."

Inquistor: PTL, Title, AT

Tomax: Crack shot, EM, Concussion or Proton (depending on the day, Chips

Vessery: Tractor, VI, Tie/D, MK II

With everyone at PS8, Inq and Tomax move up for a TL while Vessery takes a focus.

Vessery fires first with Tractor, gets a TL, hopefully lands a TB token on the target. From there, you're looking to pop something between his primary, ordinance from Tomax, and Inq.
