Shadow Caster's incompatible peg?

By patox, in X-Wing

So I finally opened up my Shadow Caster tonight and she's a beaut.

Like many of you here, I'm guessing that you have way too many bases and pegs lying around. Since wave 5, I've been taking all my ship bases and pegs, leaving them unopened in their original baggies and throwing them in a box with other unopened stands.

Now it's the Shadow Caster's turn. Following my standard routine, I pull out one of my existing pegs and try to mount the Shadow Caster. It's way too tight. I fidget a bit with it, but still way too tight. And then I notice that I'm causing a little cracking in the connector of the ship. Instead of trying to force it in, I try another pre-wave 9 peg to no avail. And then another with the same result.

Finally, I bring out the peg and base that comes with the Shadow Caster and it's a perfect fit.

It seems the nibs on the large-ship pegs have shrunk.

Anyone else notice this?

I believe it's been a long(?) known fact that at a point in time (a site veteran will no doubt quote the wave) the peg sizes changed slightly (but significantly enough to matter).

That's why it appears best to keep each base with the ship it was purchased with.

For small pegs I think there are even 3 sizes, for large ships at least two. Broken so far one Y-Wing, one TIE/FO and the millennium falcon with those non-fitting pegs. Is the shadowcaster introducing a third size for large ship pegs as well? ^-^

Surpised you're only starting to have the problem now, as there's a clear differnce between at least the large pegs of earlier waves and newer waves since I think wave 6, as this picture illustates, two of those pegs are aggressors, and the other two are from a firespray and a lambda

large base pegs have always been a problem. I have a couple bases i magnetized to get rid of the peg issue. Oddly enough i never seem to have issues with the pegs connecting to the ship itself, only the base.

But let's sell coloured bases and pegs in yet another size and not respond to anyone's emails who complains about it...

so the shadowcaster is just an awkward mount in general due to model size

it's a straight magnet job, imo, provided either you or someone you know can do the actual magnetization :P

How did you get a shadow caster, I am pretty sure its not released yet?
