But has anyone tried it with Echo instad of Whisper?

This allows some options:

1) upgrade the decimator

2) add Kallus instead of IA + 1point bid

3) keep IA, but add something to the decimator

Judging from my games with Whisper and Decimator against 2-ship lists, I have rarely used the focus I got from attack. If I change to Echo I have two concirns:

1) how well would it do against more than 2 ship lists

2) what would be fireing at PS9?

I might try this out this week, but how do you think?

I like Echo, but would add him when I have more ships than two. And for PS8 Echo you need good Ininitiative bid, lot of PS8 out there nowadays.

I run whisper as such: Tactician, FCS, ACD, VI
with Kenkirk: Lone Wolf, Isard, Emperor

Comes to 99 points. I tend to keep Palp as an extra roving evade token. Once Kenkirk gets that 1 agility, I'm rolling at least one def dice per turn, and adding Isard's Evade action. Lone wolf gives me a defensive reroll of a blank. My action is usually a focus w/ Kirk, so if I roll a natural evade, great. If I roll a blank, I reroll it. If it comes up blank again, I might palp it to an evade, depending on the board state. If for some reason I lose whisper, that blank rerolled to a blank then palp'd to an evade really helps in the late game. Against a 2-3 ship meta, it really helps to trim the incoming damage to the VT-49.

I find that most of my shots with whisper are at ranges 1-2. Obviously, at R1, the bonus red die is nice. At R2, which is where the overwhelming numbers of shots are occurring, I get to lay a stress on target, which makes my follow up shot easier to line up, since they're probably doing a green maneuver to shed the extra stress.
